For me (who is/was one of the manual unzip over installer type) it's more not knowing what is being put where..... NextPVR itself is bad for this & doing an uninstall doesn't (or even give the option to) get rid of everything that was installed.... if the developers would document what was put where more people like me would be quite happy to use their installers.

I have absolutely no problem with installers (as opposed to simple download/unzips) - I actually prefer installers - it's just good to have the ability to switch off auto-updates - especially when testing... Smile

I was planning on both a stable and beta download via the repo, that was what was driving me.

Is this supposed to work on a Raspberry Pi running RaspBMC? I just get a blank screen when I select "NextPVR Web Client". I'm very much a noob when it comes to the RPi (just powered it up the first time a couple hours ago), and only slightly less noobish with XMBC (previously ran it only briefly to see what the fuss was about), so I could easily be doing something wrong.
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

Yes it should work on the RPi especially if you get past the lengthy startup and the X-nEWA dashboard loads. I was testing through the beta cycle but not for the last couple of weeks, but I will try again today If you changed your PIN in NextPVR you would need to enter it. Other than that the xbmc.log and web.log are needed for support.

It worked for me on my Pi yesterday. Well mostly worked--the interface came up (looked very good, BTW. Thanks, Martin!) and I could go through the recordings, etc. The only thing that didn't work for me (that I tried) was playing a recording. It would go to a blank screen like it was trying/starting to play, but then after about 1-2 seconds it would go back to the menu. I was doing other things, so I haven't had a chance to try to look at logs, etc. yet. I'll do that this afternoon sometime.

ok, just wanted to check whether it was even supposed to work yet before digging into the logs.

Ok, good all my tablets updated too. It deleted my dev folder too, but that was may ignorance of this process All in all it does work the way I'd like but I have to be careful what I post and definitely need a stable and cutting edge stream that requires server side changes. Manual zip will always be available too.

Ok I will look into this, I play all my recordings using a share (via advancedsetting.xml mappings) since that is how comskip will work and it takes some load of the server too but something could be borked with http.
