Hey Guys,

So first time with NextPVR and need a bit of help.
So I have scanned the channels for UK Freeview 28.2 and groovy.
I have 350 channels.

But a few things, I have multiple channels for instance Channel 4 shows about 6 times and so does ITV and many others.
Is there a easy way to remove all the extras?

2ndly is there some nice sorting software to get all the channels to show more like sky.
As in BBC 1 first
then BBC HD
BBC 2
ITV
E4

and so on, so that its not like some random unheard of channel first.

Thanks guys Smile

It's probably like here in NZ, where they broadcast several versions of the channels, with different adverts on each for the different regions.

They easy to get rid of. Just go to the Settings->Channels screen, select all the extras channels you want to delete (using ctrl key to allow multiple selection), then hit the 'delete' button.

On networks where they transmit the standard LCN (logical channel number), you'll automatically get the correct channel numbers, and channel order in the TV Guide. From your description, I'm guessing Freesat in the UK doesn't transmit the LCNs, so the app just allocates the next available number for each channels (since it has no idea what the read channel number is).

While it's painful, you can renumber them manually if your system has no LCNs.

Ye think I'll have to do the manually.

Is there a good guide somewhere to get EPG information setup for the UK?

I read about digiguide but then you need some other GUI app or something.
I just want something simple and easy if possible.

Most of us are using ...

http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

But the data suppliers are no longer adding new channels and some recent Freeview channels are missing (e.g. Drama). I use the EPG data from the broadcast where there is no XMLTV data.

There is also the option of using DVBGuide to capture the xmltv data from your broadcaster to an .xml file to pdate your epg from. I think some UK users are using it.

Is there a guide somewhere on this?

I have tried but cannot get it working.

Also in NextPVR if I say update EPG it doesn't find much info.
Maybe only the current show but nothing for the future.
And lots says no information.

You didn't mention what capturecard type you are using, dvb-s, dvb-t or dvb-c? Most transponders transmit only now/next programme in the guide, but most broadcasters transmit the whole epg on one particular frequency, finding it often requires a bit of cut-and-try. There is some info about dbvguide here in this porum (search for dvbguide) and you'll find a lot of more or less usable guides if you google for "dvbguide howto".

Your first post is a little wrong I think?? you mention freeview (dvb-t) but mention 28.2 - a DVB-S satellite. I'm guessing dvb-s is the right one.
Freeview sends a full EPG, but satellite channels only send 'now and next' (well the UK ones anyway).
DVBguide reads the Freesat EPG which is most of the free channels and is 7 days I think.
From when I last tried it, it worked fine using teh freesatepg.bat file to grab the listings. I can't try it now as the tuner is in use at the moment.

I currently use alan birtles xmltvgui to get epg data from teh radio times, but since the Radio Times outsourced it, the available channels are not getting updated and I guess it may disappear, so I ought to give dvbguide another try ;(

As others have mentioned DVBguide is able to read the full 8 day Freesat EPG and produce an XML file which NextPVR could read. Before that I used XMLTV GUI to download from Radio Times and another source but never managed to get a full EPG for all channels which was why I switched to DVBguide.
