Hi All
I am a newbie to NPVR, in the past I have used WMC and currently JRiver for recording TV shows. I came across NPVR by accident but having now played around with it would like to focus on it as my main PVR. The user interface leaves the aforementioned programs in the dust.

While playing around and testing NPVR today I have found that if a remote command is sent to the HTPC to send it to sleep while recording, it will honour the request:eek: Needless to say this is bad news for systems that are totally remote controlled because the turn off command to the PC should never be allowed when a recording is active or about to happen. In my case the recording was well on its way so to the best of my knowledge this is not the issue that has been covered before in this forum.

Is it possible to raise the application processor priority so that standby requests are ignored during recording in the same way as both WMC and JRiver?

When you installed NextPVR did you reboot your PC? There is an app. called NTray.exe installed that blocks shutdown during recordings but it is installed as a startup program not by the installer.

Martin: Thanks for the info

Yes, I have the tray icon present and it shows the tuners status. And yes to re-booting, many times during the decoders install Wink

I will look to see if the NTray priority can be increased manually for testing now I understand the part it plays.

I am still using PBS's AwaymodeActive.exe - there is still a copy in this post: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post458052

I must admit I haven't "tested" it recently, but it still worked for me on NPVR 2.6.2 with a MCE remote and no additional software.
If you try it I would test it on something you don't want to keep first.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Thank you very much for the link. I can confirm that NPVR now works in the same fashion as WMC and JRiver. With AwayModeActive running in the background my HTPC will not go into Sleep State if a recording is being made.

Would it be possible to incorporate this functionality into the NPVR?

Needless to say, increasing the priority of the NPVR Tray and associated threads did not resolve the issue.

For the sake of clarification, NPVR did not allow my HTPC to go into Sleep State when a recording was active. It simply did not guard against the sleep button being pressed or a remote power down command sent through Girder.

I (and a few others??) tend to rely on the o/s to put the system in sleep mode. Mine is set to sleep after 10 minutes during the day and 30 minutes during the evening. I don't think I have ever manually put the system to sleep. (I would have to go running upstairs to the shack).

I also use this facility, I have mine set for 20 minutes. Alas it does not stop me from occasionally pressing the sleep button by accident, removing the Girder Sleep command is something I should consider though. It would be so much nicer if NPVR could protect the user from closing down the PC during record. Since the functionality exists in other programs it seems reasonable to believe it can be incorporated into NPVR when time permits.
