No. I get a ASP generated error page with the same exception.. Here's the text and call stack when hitting: http://localhost:8866/

I'll have to ask UJB, I know that is where the web server is compiled. If you manually create as admin "Temporary ASP.NET Files" in 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files' does NEWA.

Works... I think.
I created the directory, loaded the NEWA page and to still failed. I was looking in the directory in explorer and about 10 minutes later, files started being created. The NEWA page loaded. SearchLite search returned results, but still displayed NEWA not running. Second search returned without error. Thanks!

Update. Restarted system and Searchlite now returns results but also still displays "Newa not started". I don't see anything of interest in the logs.
I'll let it go overnight and see if IIS is still JIT compiling the website or some such. If it's working, its more of a visual thing and more affects the WAF than operation. A quick suggestion, if at all possible to implement. A search can take 10-15 seconds before it returns. Any chance of a barber-pole or some working indicator in a future version?

Yeah, still getting the error notice, the old "wait and it'll repair itself trick didn't work -- never really does. :-) .
I first noticed the slow response on the older version also. I wonder if there has always been a problem with this setup? It seems the first search (close and re-open NPVR) takes 25 seconds, subsequent are no more than a second or two. The first search takes longest whether I search as soon as it loads, or wait hours before searching. I have 2 weeks worth of listings from Sched Direct. Rogers Digital Cable for Oshawa/Pine Ridge, CA, and then Sched Direct for OTA, same area. A fairly long listing with MANY repetitions and 'time shifts. Doing Title Search, sorted by T. I searched for "Once" or "Trek"

I use Rogers Ottawa with and HDPVR and OTA both with SD too so are guides are the same. The 25 seconds is just NEWA loading so if you stop and restart the PC a lot that is typical, I suggest using sleep rather than a full shutdown since think it would be annoying with the popup for those 1 seconds queries which is why there isn't one.

Are you attempting to run NEWA via IIS rather than the NPVR web server?
I see the error points to NT Authority\System - What OS are you running?

Guys, Sorry for the long delay in response.
The delay comes every time I restart NPVR.exe. Just the UI, not the service or the machine. I reproduce by choosing Exit in the UI, and then launching the shortcut icon. I thought it might have to do with loading/caching the guide info, but I've waited 15 minutes and opened the TV Guide and it still happens. I'm running Windows 8.1 64bit on AMD A10-5700 and 12GB RAM , auto login, login to desktop. I'm running standard default vertical skin, I did replace the background jpg with my own image. Simple file copy -- no xml changes. When I search the first time, I get a 15-20 second delay, then results and the NEWA not started error. Maybe related. If I ask to download the cover image, the image appears.
