TWC and HDHR Prime channel scan issue

Hey all,

I am a Win7 and Win8.1 MCE user looking to move away from MCE if possible.

I was hoping that XBMC with NPVR might be a road ahead but I am seem to be caught up in the flagged "copy once" problem.


Using http://192.168.1.74/lineup.xml?show=unprotected I show 42 channels
Using http://192.168.1.74/lineup.xml?show=subscribed I show 330 channels

Just trying to make sure I understand the problem here. Does this mean outside of MCE I can only see/use the 42 unprotected channels?

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what that means. MCE is the ONLY software allowed to work with Copy Once and Copy Never channels. Every other program is restricted to Copy Freely channels, and many of the cable providers are really tightening the screws on that.

Hi fellow TWC subscriber. Take solace in the fact, as I have, that they lost over 300,000 subscribers in Q3. Couldn't happen to a nicer company. Comcast and others might be in a bid for a takeover.

Hopefully Comcast (which have their own levels of suck) take them over. Comcast still has most of their channels (except movie channels e.g. HBO) marked as Copy Freely.
