Problems setting up live tv on nextpvr

Recently I installed Windows 8.1 64 bit Pro with Media Center on my Desktop Computer.

Little did I know, in doing so - I would discover the Windows Media Center for Windows 8.1 has the following problems with my Diamond TVW750USB ATI Theater HD 750 USB TV Tuner:
1. It cannot find approx. 40% of the QAM stations available with my Time Warner basic TV cable connection.
2. The analog stations break up about every other second.

Unfortunately, the only resolution MS has provided was to reinstall Windows 7 on my computer.

Since then, I installed the Totalmedia 3.5 program that came with the DVD that was included with my TV Tuner. But, while it does work well, I have discovered it capabilities is extremely limited. Not to mention, the program is over 5 years old and is no longer supported. ... I also discovered any TV shows recorded (which in does in mpg format) can only be played in Totalmedia.

In contacting Diamond support - they recommended installing NextPVR. They told me your program works quite well with this tuner.

However, I am a non-techie type of person. ... The more simple something is to use, the better I usually like it.
In reviewing the instructions I have be able to locate - it seems getting live tv to work with my tuner card is a complex ordeal.

Could someone please explain to me in simplified terms how to set up Nextpvr so I could utilize both the digital and analog tuners on my Diamond TVW750USB ATI Theater HD 750 USB TV Tuner?

I did. There was nothing there that addresses my specific TV Tuner.

That's the beauty of NextPVR, it find the most devices, all you have to do is configure the device NextPVR found in Settings/Devices
Do a channel scan, setup EPG etc .

I have the same ATI USB stick and it shows as : ATIBDA Digital Tuner 1

Do the drivers support Windows 8.1?

I see the digital tuner set up as ATIBDA Digital Tuner & after doing a channel scan saw 74 channels - which I know isn't correct because I only have basic cable and there are only about 15 or so non-encrypted qam channels. I also do not see the analog tuner at all.

As I stated before - I am a older non-tech person, so what may seem easy for many, isn't for me. Thus, in order to use NextPVR I need someone to explain what I need to do, step by step, in simplistic terms.

You need to install SoftPVR to see your analog devices. You do have to drill down in the wiki a bit to find this.

In downloading and running SoftPVR in admin. mode - I get the following error message: No WinTV7_cd*.exe file found. Download file first....

Where is this file located so I can download it?
