And that's not all.
Re-installed after accumulating "bugs" after years of, almost, faultless use, updating and patching as new versions appeared.

Now I have several problems.
New Recordings not showing in "What's New"
Shows crashing NPVR as soon as they start.
Have done
.Net 4 installed and validated
complete uninstall, deleted folders.
ripped out remaining hair
Thrown things
Shouted at dog.

HEEELLLLP!

ETA.
I feel stupid now. The recordings were not showing because I overlooked the obvious. Sorted by Date instead of Date Descending. However, the crashing is a bit of a problem.

Are you certain that NPVR Service was running when these crashes occurred? You did not post an NRecord log.

NPVR service was running, I even get the recordings and have watched them with VLC with no problems.
I shall post the last NRecord log and the last NPVR.log too.
Like I said, it only happens on a few recordings the latest being QI and it seems to be a playback issue.

I have found where the problem occurs but not why.
This is the section of the log for successful playback.

Playback graph running...
2014-01-18 12:07:45.872 [DEBUG][1] Graph filter list:
2014-01-18 12:07:45.872 [DEBUG][1] - EVR Renderer

2014-01-18 12:07:45.872 [DEBUG][1] - ffdshow Video Decoder
2014-01-18 12:07:45.872 [DEBUG][1] - LAV Audio Decoder

2014-01-18 12:07:45.872 [DEBUG][1] - NPVR TS Reader2
2014-01-18 12:07:46.917 [DEBUG][1] ActivatePopup: null
2014-01-18 12:07:46.918 [DEBUG][1] deactivating old popup: ShowDetailsPopup
2014-01-18 12:07:46.918 [DEBUG][1] Going to dispose popup at end of animation

2014-01-18 12:07:46.957 [DEBUG][1] GetEventCode() returned: 0x000e

And this is the same section for a non playback.

Playback graph running...
2014-01-18 12:08:03.959 [DEBUG][1] Graph filter list:
2014-01-18 12:08:03.959 [DEBUG][1] - EVR Renderer

2014-01-18 12:08:03.959 [DEBUG][1] - NPVR PES Collector (DVBSubs)
2014-01-18 12:08:03.959 [DEBUG][1] - MPEG1 Audio Renderer
2014-01-18 12:08:03.959 [DEBUG][1] - ffdshow Video Decoder
2014-01-18 12:08:03.959 [DEBUG][1] - LAV Audio Decoder
2014-01-18 12:08:03.959 [DEBUG][1] - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
2014-01-18 12:08:03.959 [DEBUG][1] - NPVR TS Reader2

It stops just there.

Any clues in that?.
My dog is giving me sideways glances.
Cheers.

I'm guessing it's something to do with the ffdshow Video Decoder. It's problematic for some users in the past.

That may have been the problem. I have been using the LAV audio decoder for all audio settings but used ffdshow for MPEG2 and Microsoft DVT-DVD for H.264. Changed the MPEG2 to LAV and now even the shows that failed to play now play.
Cheers Sub.
All systems are now GO, including Comskip which is so nice to have back, I thought that went away with v 2.something but once more, I was mistooken.
My dog is now more relaxed.
