SSPlus & clients

OK so I know it's most likely something I've stuff up but I can't see what I have done wrong..... my SSP config attached

<PCH-0006DC43A19F> is the one in the sitting-room running JustRetro
<PCH-0006DC446E05> is the Boss's one running BRVE+
The MVP is the bird-room also running BRVE+

After running it for a while it gets all screwed up with the Boss's one showing JustRetro stuff in the config & the bird-room not remembering the last views it was on when I fire it up next day etc.

Has this just started happening since you went over to your new server? Do you have these clients defined in the NPVR config.xml?

If you get time, could you set your number of clients to one, start up the Boss's NMT and then attach your MVP log please? also coud you zip and attach your usage logs for the last week or so?

Err well I have never had more than one client hooked up to a NextPVR server before I went to the (old server... actually) new install...

Thanks - unfortunately the usage logs don't really show anything useful...

Appologies for taking so long, but I'm really struggling to come up with a scenario where this would happen :confused:

I'll play about with some extra logging round about where it saves the settings back to SSPConfig...

I just haven't been able to find an opportunity to do this, but it seems to have gone for long enough that it has settled down to the views I want on each client.... maybe because the Bosses hasn't been played with & is just sitting on the same view all the time?? I have no idea if it's remembering where it's up to for PhotoSlideshow as when the Boss is trying to get a random playlist fired up she keeps pressing all the different coloured keys so one time it will be on random directory (& random list) & the next time random may or may not be on <grin>

Currently the most pressing problem (that really really erks me personally when I'm in the bird room) is the MVP just won't display a CUE file properly using text="@ArtistTitleIndex" (I'm not sure about the others as it's always on PhotoSlideshow) it just displays 0.1 & that's it for the whole track..... it does display correctly on the NMT however??

I've tried to recreate this problem on several occasions without success - random colour key presses would certainly give you symptoms similar to what you were seeing

Is it a specific CUE file or all CUE files? I'll need to dig out an MVP and try to recreate the problem here... Which View are you using?

It's using a cut down modified version of the skin (tweaked for 4x3 on a 20" CRT screen with tired old eyes) under BRVE+ (attached) using the slideshow "FullScreen-BoxedTime" view..... & it's for all CUE files (but it's those Barron Knight ones that I have tested with text="@ArtistTitleIndex" on the NMT)

Good news and bad news...

Good news: I took an MVP out of the 'backup/spares' cupboard, hooked it to the network and kitchen TV, booted it up and it worked... first time...

Bad news: using the Default skin, text="@ArtistTitleIndex" displays correctly on the "FullScreen-BoxedTime" view. I tested it using Barron Knights and James Taylor.

Maybe you could zip and email me the skin folder for the skin you are using for the Birds MVP and I'll try it with that...

Actually the default skin uses text="@TitleYearArtistAlbumIndex" for the "FullScreen-BoxedTime" view... (which displays just a few tads toooooooo long on 4x3 displays....) but no issue as it is also not working on the MVP but is on the NMT's

I have just run through a pile of trials & both the NMT are working with CUE files (including the Bosses which is running the same skin as the MVP which rules the skin out as being the problem) but the MVP still isn't... so I was trying to think what was different with the setup between the different devices & the only thing I came up with was both the NMT fire up into a PlaylistEnhanced NonSlideShow view on playing music so I thought I would set the Bosses up to fire straight into SlideShow when music was playing the same as the MVP but the setting just won't stick through an NMT re-boot.... attached are the MVP log & SSPConfig after running it, playing a track then selecting SS for music & then turning SS off when I stopped music (which is another clue as I have never ever had SS active when not playing music on that system).... I hope it gives some clues to the problem.

A little more on this.... I just fired up the MVP for the days music playing for the birds (after re-setting the server to start 3 MVP servers & re-starting the recording service) & it was on SlideShow for NotPlayingMusic not it's normal BoxedDateTime view & when I fired up a random playlist it was on PlaylistEnhanced no slideshow instead of FullScreen-BoxedTime slideshow view.... so it looks like it's not reading it's own client stuff out of SSPConfig & just using the default lot at the top?? It couldn't be anything to do with UAC (even thought I'm sure I have it turned off) could it??
