Been running the old GBPVR for years but having moved house, have taken the plunge to update to NPVR Smile
As with my experience when first installing GBPVR, things aren't quite going to plan.

I have a BlackGold DVB T & S tuner and it scans & finds channels ok. Having reduced the channel list down to those I actually want, I've checked they're all set to OTA EPG update. If I manually update the EPG, it gets populated as you would expect. A day later after the auto-update has run, the EPG is empty

I've checked the log and there are no error messages showing, indeed the extract below is an example of what I see for all channels:-

this seems to imply that the scan finds EPG data and then saves it..... yet there's nothing there and the existing data deleted.

Any ideas what's going wrong?

Have you installed the R1a patches from the "Current Patches and Getting Started Info" sticky thread? I'm wondering if this is the issue that patch 17 was created for. Be sure to read Installation Notes if you've never patched NPVR before. "Stop NPVR Service" (Start->All Programs->NPVR folder) helps to avoid headaches. Could also be a "sleep disorder," in which case full logs might be of interest.

Looks as though the computer is going back to sleep before the update has completed - You need to increase the Unattended Sleep timeout in Windows Power Settings - I had to change mine to 12 mins. to allow the post wakeup delay, time to update epg and post update bat to complete.

See this post http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...nded+Sleep
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Hi Guys....Thanks all for responses.

Zeb, yes I'm patched to R1a and I've double checked the file time/dates to ensure they're installed. System has been re-booted many times so the right files are definitely active.

Lao, my system is set not to sleep (i.e. sleep =never) and there are no references to sleep in the logs so that one can be eliminated.

Did notice is says "deleting old listings" AFTER it says it's saved the new ones....wondered if in fact it was deleting all instead..... perhaps Sub could respond on the logic of the delete?

No, it's nothing to do with this. The logging just looks confusing. The EPG level function says "saving 118 listings for channel: ITV2", then calls the function to save the listings, which first deletes the old listings, then saves the new ones to the database.

The exact same EPG update function is called when it manually or automatically updates the EPG. ie, same order of steps etc.

I don't use DVB-S so this is a shot in the dark ... Is it getting in a pickle trying to get data from both T and S? What happens if you delete the S tuner to test?

I had EPG update problems for a while a year or so ago but that caused a partially filled EPG update. A cure that seemed to work for some people was to run Nextpvr.exe -updateepgonly. If that works then a work around is to run it via Task Scheduler. Something to try first is to run the update a bit later such as 5am to see if that is more reliable. It could however be something as simple as a transmitter fault or maintenance outage at update time. I don't thing a logical reason for the problem was ever found!

Ok a further bit of information... The terrestrial tuners are currently set to disabled so are not being scanned for EPG. If I go to channels, Empty the EPG and the trigger a scan it runs through every Satellite frequency 60s at a time. In the log I see it saying it is saving typically 100 entries per channel. When I examine the TV Guide after completion there is only one or two entries for each channel (the current and next programme)
These one or two entries can be found in the database but nothing else. e.g. 2 entries for BBC 1 when it says it saved 110!
