my pictures 3 alpha 4.2

supports .lnk files (ie windows shortcuts), so just dump a link to file where ever you like and it will show up in the directory (it first checks to see if the file exists, just incase you dont have rights to it on a network or if the file has been deleted, and it only adds shortcuts that have an image file extension).

ok ill add support for windows shortcuts, this should solve solve the photo albums issue.

I haven't tested my pictures 3 alpha yet because I only have one installation of GBPVR.

but I would like to test this feature - do you know if one can install GBPVR on another machine without configuring channels etc (no PVR card on that PC) and then just installing MyPictures? - or do you need to do something else to get it to work on a non PVR card PC?

yeah you can install gbpvr on a pc without needing to configure a capture source etc. i just recommend going into windows services and disabling gbpvr recording service (its uses up memory, and wont be needed if theres no capture card).

Ok, it works like buttah!!. I see's the .lnk files as images. Just like it should. Very nice. It works in all view modes and full screen.

Now the bad news. The Slideshow and Random modes don't function with .lnk files. When I try to do a slideshow I get an error :

There are no images found in the current directory so a slideshow could not start. . . . . . .

When I try to do a Random, nothing happens. No error, no slideshow. Nothing.

ok ill look into it, i only spent about 5 minutes adding the .lnk support so yeah i was bound to miss something

- added the "delete" function (only works on images/webimages and folders, if you delete a shortcut, it WILL DELETE THE FILE IT POINTS TO!, since idont keep a record if its a shortcut or where the shortcut is placed, i just look inside the shortcut and getthe file location from that and then throw away the shortcut).
- fixed the bug with shortcuts not being added to random and slideshows.

its still alpha because of the stupid music playlist thing, beta (in my mind anyway) should be a complete version without anything else to be added, just needing bug tests (alpha is the incomplete, well thats how i see it).

so any bugs in this version?

i am aware of a bug if you start viewing a webimage then exit and view another one, the first image may appear at first until the next download (but thats the only bug im aware of, or well can think of, oh and you can zoom in/rotate when random is playing but i kind of like this so im leaving it as is).

I just got back from a 8 day trip with the family. I took almost 600 pictures, and watched them with version 2.999.999.17436 it worked very good. I haven't putzed with GBPVR in over a week, and will get back to it today. I'll try out the newest version tonight. I'll have to reread this thread to see what I missed. I would like to test out the aspect ratio when rotating, but since my newest camera has an 'orientation sensor' it rotates each picture when saving them. (saves a lot of hassles later when viewing, but causes some when printing....)

One thing that would be nice, if you could select folders to do a random from.
I have my pictures saved as.

year
date

On my recent trip, I have 6 folders (one each day I downloaded the camera). It would be nice to be able to view a random picture of all of them, but not of all of the other pictures in 2005. It is simple to work around, I just created a VACATION folder and copied them all there, and viewed that folder.
