sub Wrote:Are you just talking about channel change times on different backends though (ie wmc server vs nextpvr) - ie, nothing to do with transcoding? or saying wmc server + xbmc was faster when configured to use transcoded H.264 vs native MPEG2? My understanding was that wmc and wmc server is just using the native MPEG2. On win7 media center, channel change and play back was faster when using the tc device. And when using wmc server and xbmc it was also faster. Or seemed that way

Ok - I think you've changed subjects. ie, nothing to do with the transcoding. Now you're focusing on channel change times in different apps (all of which are using the native MPEG2 stream).

How are you tuning the hdtc-2us now with nextpvr?

zikronix Wrote:Is channel changing still slow in xbmc...or is it instant now? There is a thread over on xbmc where they are working on integrating directly in XBMC since the tuner is handling all the transcoding. It takes about 5 seconds to change channels. Would be nice if it was faster but not something I'm too concerned about at this stage. It looks like SiliconDust is working on BDA support for the HDHR Plus (either in progress or already done). Is there a chance that the transcoding will work out of box with NextPVR + BDA without requiring you to make any changes? Or maybe make it easier to add transcoding support for once BDA is available? http://www.silicondust.com/forum2/viewto...68&t=16499

How much difference between h264 and mpeg2 Martin mvallevand Wrote:How much difference between h264 and mpeg2 MPEG2 is slightly faster at about 3 seconds. EDIT: I changed transcoding profile from heavy to internet720 and the delay is greater: about 7-8 seconds. Assuming it has to do more work to transcode at this setting?

I'm having issues with Network Recorder plugin since upgrading to the latest version of NextPVR. The video shows up for a few seconds then freezes in NextPVR. I don't have any issues when using Network Recorder plugin through XBMC. Not sure if its an issue with the plugin itself or with the MPEG4 video in NPVR.
