Here is a screenshot of the decoders.

I have tied other options but no change.

As noted earlier, very strange that it appears to happen only in the afternoon.

It is often recommended that the Audio Renderer should be set to Default. Good luck.

I second the recommendation to set the audio renderers to Default. I would also recommend trying AC3 filter for MPEG1 and AC3. It works very well for many here, and it is simpler than ffdshow. Although many use ffdshow, I've never had much luck with it.

I would recommend Win7 so you can use the MS DTV DVD decoder for MPEG2. If you aren't running on 7 at the moment, try the audio stuff above first, it might fix it The LAV video decoder is known to be troublesome with NPVR. Another option would be Hoborg's SAF decoder package available on this forum. But, try the simple stuff first.
HTPC: Optiplex 7010, HDHR Prime/Avermedia Duet A188, NPVR 4.2.5, Win10 Pro

LAV Audio Codec also works well - but only enable the audio codecs that you need for TV Broadcasts I think ac3 & possibly MPEG1 in Canada - disable the others.

Also LAV Video does not work well at all in NPVR. PDVD13 - not the latest version though (The one in SAF unlocked works well) & Arcsoft are good.

Just what I was about to suggest Smile

Went to defaults on the renders, disabled MPEG1 (I am doing all over the air at this time and so interested in trying to isolate for now), and then tried LAV for AC3. LAV did not provide any sound at all. Had to go back to ffdshow to get audio.

Waiting now to see if the audio gets hooped.

Another interesting observation is that if I show the menu with the progress bar the audio becomes choppy and the video gets out of sync. When the main screen came back the audio smoothed out and after a short wile it appears to be in sync with the video.

It sounds like there is no Hardware rendering - Have you installed the full Direct X 9 - even Windows 8.1 needs it to be installed separately.

From Mr Johnsonx42@s sticky post 2:
For most users, the only separate pre-requisite runtime needed is the Full DirectX Runtime:http://www.microsoft.com/download/en...s.aspx?id=8109(YES, even if you have DirectX 10, 11, 12, or 326, you still need the DX9 runtime)

If you have already installed the full DX9, then it may be your pc is too underpowered.

If you get no audio from LAV then there is something wrong in the setup. I use LAV for all kind of audio and it works just perfect. However, if your cpu is low in power you should use AC3Filter as it is not so cpu demanding as LAV and ffdshow.

So,I made changes and to no success. For a while I thought it was cured but now it is just less frequent.

I still need to try DirectX 9 install. The first attempt that I made would not go as it stated a newer version was installed. Disappointed that the newer one is not supported but sort of understand given the interest to support older OS's.

Here is the image of what I have installed. Note that I have to use FF because LAV would not work at all.

My advice ...
Uninstall LAV and ffdshow. Send a forum private message to Hoborg to get the unlocked version of SAF ... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post414049

SAF will install a collection of decoders that have been tested and configured for NextPVR and should give good results in all circumstances. SAF includes versions of LAV and ffdshow so you should uninstall your current versions to minimise confusion. SAF will configure NextPVR during its installation ... I recommend that you try the SAF default config before you try fiddling about.
