My NextPVR 3.2.9 installation records TV channels in the same frequency on 2 tuners instead of using 1 tuner.

I wonder what's wrong with my installation.

There would ally be a reason why it's chosen to use two tuners instead of one. If you post the logs showing the recordings, we should be able to tell you why.

Ok zipped up my logs and attached here. Smile

Btw, to reduce your time troubleshooting, the recordings in particular to look into are the recordings starting with CH8 and CH5. The SD versions of these channels are on the same frequency, but CH5 is not recording with the same tuner as CH8.

Thanks.

I see several instances in the logs where CH5 and CH8 recordings were done at the same time by the same tuner. I suspect if you investigate carefully you'll find you don't have both channels properly mapped and merged across all possible tuners so that sometimes a tuner gets used that has one channel but not the other.

@sub - here's something that would be helpful to users investigating things like this:

Add a column for the tuner number to the Devices screen. Also add the tuner number to the tuning string list in the Channel Details.

I'v added the tuner name to the recordings' .xml file, but it is a bit cumbersome to set up in PostProcessing.bat

I see. So u mean that sometimes the CH5/CH8 recordings are done using the same tuner, but sometimes they are using 2 tuners?

Anyway, how do I further ensure that the channels have been merged successfully? From what I see in the "Channels" section (the one below "Devices) I see the channel having 4 sources (I have 4 tuners so I copied the settings from one tuner to the other 3 tuners) so does that mean already merged successfully?

It would take very detailed digging through your logs to determine whether there were any occurrences of simultaneous CH5/CH8 recordings using different tuners, for which I have neither patience nor interest. It was relatively easy to spot instances where both recordings were done on the same tuner at the same time.

Yes, if you have 4 tuners and both channels in question show 4 sources, then it sounds like you have them properly mapped and merged. However your signature lists 9 total capture sources, so I'm not sure how all of those play together.

Only the 4 sources should be considered. The other 4 refers to my Hauppauge HVR2200 card (2 for DVB-T, 2 for analog), while the remaining one is the IPTV. So total 9 sources.

I would like you all to take a look at this screenshot of the NPVR Device Status:

For the purposes of the discussion, we can ignore the recordings done by Tuner C and Tuner D as their channel frequency are different from that of Tuners A and B. So let's focus on Tuner A and B. They are actually the same frequency so I do not understand why the program assigned 2 tuners to do the recording. Could it be an issue with the command that I run, "NextPVR -recurring"?
