I want to use FFDSHOW because of the keyboard shortcut options. Can someone please post as screen shot of their video and audio settings for ffdshow (in ffdshow) and the NPVR decoder screen. It seems finicky for me...one day it was working and the next it stopped working for .ts files.

The problem is that *.TS files are demuxed with MS demultiplexer. So if you want to use FFDshow for TS files, you need to setup FFDshow video decoder for MPEG2 and h.264. But i do not recommend that. Just rename your *.TS file to *.M2TS and it will be working by default SAF installation.

I am speekeing about combination LiveTV (MS demultiplexer) + FFDShow MPEG2&H.264 decoder.
According to my experience, this will introduce some issues, like slow channel change, bad picture quality, instability, deinterlacing issues, etc...
In NPVR, my best experience is MS VIDEO decoder for LiveTV (Win7 x64) + Intel HD4000 GPU. No problem at all on my HTPC.

Hi.
I am now working on next SAF 6.3.0 version.

I made a lot of changes:
- no FFDShow anymore
- integrated VSFilter(DirectVobSub) - for subtitles. Preconfigured for FullHD displays.
- realmedia fully replaced by LAVF

To be able to see subtitles in nPVR, you will need to install Auto loader for DirectVobSub (Blu-ray Forced subtitles).
Do not forget to add .MKV,.AVI,...etc to filetypes. (ignore red warning message, it is false)

By removing dead FFDshow from SAF, we lost ability to audio/subtitles stream changing, display/hide subtitles by remote controler. There is no solution for that right now. I would like to have such support directly integrated in to nPVR. With
SAF 6.3.0 you can do that only manually by right clicking on green arrow in system tray.
Second lost is HW decoding on Windows XP. There will be no DXVA for this old Windows. Only Vista or newer systems are supported.
And last - subtiles quality will be a little worse (it depends of video resolution). Only solution for this (without FFDshow) is to add better support of MadVR video renderer in to nPVR, then we can have a real nice subtitles
But, we can now have subtitles below the image:

By the other hand we gained much better/stable and alive video decoder with really advanced HW video decoding !

Just one more note - for really nice and smooth video playback in nPVR, install Auto Refresh plugin, it will automatically change refresh rate according to the video.

Hi Hoborg - quick Q, if I want to update MPC and I install it in C:\Program Files (x86)\SAF\MPC-HC, will this upset SAF at all for NPVR use? I guess the same question applies to any Player Updates in C:\Program Files (x86)\SAF\ ?

Do not install the MPC-HC, just replace the exe file. Installing it probadly mess the SAF settings.

Hi Hoborg - I'm struggling with the install of this one. It uninstalls the previous version OK, but then hangs on the install.
Never had a problem before, any hints please?
