TV buffer directory filling up. Isn't it supposed to delete files after use?

Hey guys. This is probably something very simple that I'm overlooking, but files in my tv buffer directory seem to never get deleted. I just cleared out 500 gigs worth of files. How do I ensure these are deleted after I stop watching a channel?

Are your running 3.2.9, there were notable improvements in the upgrade.

in years past I had "del c:\livetv\*.*" at the end of my UpdateEPG.bat just to ensure they got cleared out every night, but that hasn't been necessary for awhile. I do still find an occasional orphaned file in there, but it's rare.

Yes. This is the version I'm using. I watch everything through XBMC nPVR addon. Do you think that has something to do with it?

*EDIT* Just tried adding this and I'm getting a 'Are you sure (y/n)?' message on the del command. Tried adding 'del /f D:\media\tvbuffer-npvr\*.*' to force it but it didn't work without confirmation. Tried as administrator with same results. Did you have to do anything special to get it to run without confirmation? I'm just double-clicking the .bat file. Do things run differently if nPVR runs it like it normally does?

I don't think the fact that your watching on XBMC has anything to do with it. I watch stuff only through XBMC, and I only ever have maybe 1 old buffer file in my NPVR live tv directory.

FYI - if you pass "/?" without the quotes to a DOS command like del, it will display a usage message including the other parameters you can pass into it

C:\Users\UserName>del /?
Deletes one or more files.

DEL [/P] [/F] [/S] [/Q] [/A[[:]attributes]] names
ERASE [/P] [/F] [/S] [/Q] [/A[[:]attributes]] names

names Specifies a list of one or more files or directories.
Wildcards may be used to delete multiple files. If a
directory is specified, all files within the directory
will be deleted.

/P Prompts for confirmation before deleting each file.
/F Force deleting of read-only files.
/S Delete specified files from all subdirectories.
/Q Quiet mode, do not ask if ok to delete on global wildcard
/A Selects files to delete based on attributes
attributes R Read-only files S System files
H Hidden files A Files ready for archiving
I Not content indexed Files L Reparse Points

If Command Extensions are enabled DEL and ERASE change as follows:

The display semantics of the /S switch are reversed in that it shows
you only the files that are deleted, not the ones it could not find.
