Hi,

occasionally, the translations don't seem to work as expected - seems like a leading double-quote in the translatable text leads to the first element from my language file (which is "TV Guide") being picked up as replacement. The following is logged in that case:

Code:
<Translation original=""Alpengasthof" in Weißbach (2) (Staffel 5, Folge 3)
Doku-Soap | D 2012

Moderation: Frank Rosin

Doku-Soap" translated="TV Guide"/>

You'd need to escape quotes. ie, " instead of "

Hi,

it's not a string that I translate explicitly via an API call, it's just text that gets inserted as argument for a skin element to be rendered - seems like the skin helper implicitly tries to translate any passed text here (in the example above, it's a programme details string). Maybe the escaping has to take place there, or alternatively, an "@translate='false'" argument in skin elements would be an option?

Is it causing you any problems?

It does try to translate any string it's about to display. Some of these strings are generic things where translations could exist, like button names or message box messages. Some of it is content specific, like show names and descriptions etc, where there won't be translations. This shouldn't cause any issues though.

Are you just worried about these showing up in the translations.txt log file? Just ignore the ones it doesn't make sense to use.

Well, I don't see the show details here in the user interface, instead I see "TV Guide" (the result of the first translation element of my language file). Just like it's indicated by the supplied log event, each time an arbitrary string starting with double quotes is about to be rendered, it results in "TV Guide" being displayed in the frontend.
