Setting "EPG Source" to "Schedules Direct" causes an "Unhandled exception".

Hi all.

Thanks for the terrific program and the great support.

Ever since I received the email from Schedules Direct about the change in service, I have been monitoring this forum closely. It seemed remarkable how few issues came up with the release of version 3.3.8, so I did the upgrade today. Since nobody has reported my particular issue, I'm assuming that I'm doing something wrong with the upgrade.

I'm using the two-tuner HDHR3 with an outdoor antenna (ATSC). After the upgrade to 3.3.8, I had a number of different crashes, which I was able to get past - by first clearing-out the channels and restarting the computer, and then rescanning and restarting. That left all of the channels in Settings->Channels with an EPG value DVB/ATSC EPG. That seemed correct to me after having done a fresh scan.

But when I select a channel, click on "Details", and then select "Schedules Direct" for the EPG Source, I get this unhandled exception:

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

Thanks for the quick reply (under 10 minutes).

I assumed that the change you suggested was to "config.xml", as there was a
<SchedulesDirectMigrationDone>true</SchedulesDirectMigrationDone>
in that file. I did change it to "false", restarted nPVR, and then went straight to the channel settings. It gives me the same error when I try to change the EPG value to "Schedules Direct".

The error is complaining that the string "s" is set to NULL, so I'm wondering whether there is a some field is some dialog box that I've left blank.

Boy, you guys are quick! I can't keep up . . .

I've been testing, so the log was pretty confusing (to me). So I renamed npvr.log, I restarted the service, restarted nPVR, and then went straight to changing the EPG source for channel 5.2 to Schedules Direct. Here is the new log.


. . . just some additional (probably useless) information:

If I leave a file open in my text-editor, it pops-up a message box when another program modifies the file. I left config.xml open, and found that the <SchedulesDirectMigrationDone> parameter will stay "false" (once I've changed it to false) if I select any EPG source other than Schedules Direct. But once I select Schedules Direct, nPVR updates <SchedulesDirectMigrationDone> to "true" when I close the settings dialog box.

If I click "continue" in the exception dialog, then the "EPG Source" window is left with "Lineup:" showing a red box filled with a red X.

That log doesn't look like it's going off to Schedules Direct. Are you sure you zipped it up immediately after getting the error?

Yes, but maybe too immediately.

I grabbed it as soon as the "unhandled exception" box appeared, but possibly before the log was updated. The error dialog pops up prior to the "EPG Source" window being redrawn. So I did it again, but I hit "continue" to get "lineup:" to display, hit "OK" twice to get back to the main screen, and then closed nPVR. I hope that will flush everything to the log.

Odd. I still can't see anything about schedules direct.

Can you supply a zip of your npvr.db3 and config.xml? I'll try reproducing it with your files.

Annoyingly I don't get this same error. Does it give you the opportunity to 'continue' when you get this error?
