I have a Philips 7130 card collecting dust. I would like to build a basic HTPC computer so my mom could record her shows (basic VCR-like recording, no need for EPG guide nor tv tuning: just being able to press "record" then "Stop"). Should I bother trying to make this card work? I searched the forum and the results are not encouraging.

Thanks.

Eddie

PS: Sorry, I posted in the wrong section!

Can you get the tuner working with the software that came with it? For example, it may be an analogue card and your mother receives a digital signal.

Does the card have BDA drivers? NextPVR expects BDA drivers for all tuners.

If the answer to both is "yes" then the tuner should work with NextPVR.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't installed the card yet. I'm in the middle of installing the OS. I will try and find the BDA drivers for it. The HTPC will be connected to an Internet TV box via analog connectors (yellow/red/white).

This is not something that I have done so I am quoting others ...

You will need SoftPVR ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ugeSoftPVR

You may need to do this ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...alogDevice

Plus do you have a "blaster" so that the tuner card can tell the set top box to change channels?

NPVR may not be the best application for your purposes ;( It revolves round the EPG for most functions.
I think it would be easier to use the vendors application if you just need a VCR replacement function.
