Client/Server freezing when trying to watch 2 different live tv channels

Hey everyone,

so I've been running NPVR for about a year and I've been very happy with it!! Thank you all who have built, contributed, and maintained this fantastic application. I did run into a problem I haven't seen on the support forum.

First my current setup:

Zbox HTPC
Windows 7
2 Hauppauge HDPVR2 connected to 2 DTV tuners
NPVR 3.3.8

I recently added a client to the setup to watch tv in the bedroom. I got the setup working and it functions perfectly except when you are watching tv in the living room and try to watch a different channel in the bedroom. When you select a different channel it freezes while trying to access the second turner. I can tell it tries to start up the HDPVR2 as the light strip goes yellow as if it is starting a recording. If you are watching the same channel in both rooms it works perfectly. I also found that if you are watching tv in the bedroom first and try to watch a different channel in the living room the server will freeze while trying to access the second turner.

I would expect that it would use the first tuner for the living room and then when the bedroom is being used, it would stream live tv using the second tuner, it just cant fully start it. The logs from the client are attached below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

The good news is you can stream the same channel to more than tv because of a cool feature that sub added to feed one device to more than one stream. It allows multiple viewing and padding options.

The bad news you didn't upload all the logs so we can't diagnose the problem. What blaster software are you using? If it is the built in irblaster then it won't work, Hauppauge never modified their software to allow control of more than one device. One of the reasons I suspect this in if I use the irblaster to tune while it is recording, it takes the USB which breaks the recording badly. I suspect that would be enough for a freeze.

I am using a USBIRT blaster with separate zones. The blaster works fine when watching tv on one channel and recording on another. I haven't had any problems there.

I cleared the logs, restarted services, and captured the freeze clean. There were 2 logs in the directory so I zipped them both and attached them below. Thank you for your help!!

The need to do the test and zip all the files in the log folder. It's confusing the .1.2 etc are all important.

Hmmmm... Ok, it didn't recreate the .1 .2 etc. I had to go out of town on business, but I will try to get them up here as soon as I can.

Well, for some reason it just started working one day. Not sure what the issue was. I came home and tried testing it again to gather all the logs this time and it didn't freeze. It's been working great ever since. Looks like we're good. Thanks!!
