Cant get any audio

Hi all,

I'm using Win7, xbmc and kworld hybrid usb tuner with next pvr. i am very new at this, i have managed to get a good video signal but have 0 audio with any channel. Also in xbmc i get message "tuner not available" (but i can deal with that later). right now i'm just trying to get some audio within nextpvr itself. any thoughts? where should i look for the problem? i seem to have these decoders available:

video : microsoft dvt-dvd video decoder, ati mpeg video decoder

audio: microsoft dvt-dvd audio decoder, mpeg audio decoder

here's a look at the decoder settings:

You need to install an AC3 decoder. The MS audio decoder doesn't work with NPVR even though the MS video decoder does. I like AC3 Filter. Easy install and the default configuration should work with if you're just using the computer's sound system. In North America, you should need only MPEG1 and AC3. Set the rest to Disabled.

That's weird, I thought sub blacklisted the Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder for AC3 on Windows 7, so you shouldn't be able to select it... as mikeh49 says, it doesn't work due to licensing restrictions. AC3Filter is at http://www.ac3filter.net. You only need the lite version.

Thanks for the help guys. I apologize for not reading the support first. Unfortunately I'm still not getting any audio. I do have the ac3 track enabled, but no sound.

It's working! I switched the Audio Renderer to 'default', which didn't change anything, but after restarting nPVR it started working. What i didn't realize about changing the settings is that nPVR needs to be restarted in order for the changes to take place. Again, thanks for your help. Now to figure out how to get it working in XBMC.

That's good. If you get choppy audio on certain channels while watching live TV with NPVR, then you could disable MPEG1 Audio, since your digital channels should all be using AC3. That issue won't affect XBMC (nor do you need AC3Filter for XBMC, which has its own decoders).

You wouldn't need to restart NextPVR, but the setting change will only apply when you restart live tv.
