Hi,

As the title indicates, My Hauppauge digital tuner isn't finding any digital channels. I would like to try and insert them manually to see if that helps. Is it possible to do so, possibly using an xml file with the correct frequencies? I noticed there was an "Import Channels" option. I thought maybe if I could get an idea of what this file generally looks like I could alter it to attempt manual input. Is anyone able to indicate file structure for this? or alternatively provide better ideas? I am located in australia.

Thanks,
Zif

Have you tried plugging your aerial into a normal tv to check it's definitely working? I've had no channels found in the scan before, but it's always been a problem with the lead / connection / aerial etc....

Have you tried clicking the "scan offsets" tick box before you scan as it says that can be needed for some devices in Oz and UK... I'm in the UK and have never needed that option, but might be worth a try if you haven't already?

You could also try scanning Australia - All Regions

Thanks for your reply.

I've tried scanning my region, Australia All Regions, All Countries All Regions, with and without the scan offsets.
Yes this aerial does work in a tv. I currently have no channels on the tv because I removed the aerial cable from the tv and plugged it into the card.
The Aerial has recently been replaced so it shouldn't be because of that.
I'm going to see if I can find someone who I can visit with my htpc to see if it can find the channels elsewhere. If it does I'll have to look at something like a signal booster.

If that doesn't work I was thinking that if I can alter an existing channel xml export/backup to have the right frequencies etc and then import it that maybe it is just having trouble finding the channels.

Try doing a scan - then post your logs.

Scan logs are attached for both Scan Offsets on and Scan Offsets off (Dedicated log for each so as to make it easier to tell the difference).

Unfortunately I can't just scan my region because the frequency listings don't appear to be correct for Australia as there was a government retune earlier in the year. i.e. Darling Downs frequencies scanned: 571.5MHz is the lowest frequency scanned. The australian government website states frequencies for the Darling Downs transmitter start at 536.5MHz up to 557.5MHz. Hence the need to try ALL regions. I was wondering perhaps if it is having trouble because it is looking for the channels and the channel listing does not match the channel frequency expected. I don't know if this could cause an issue.

I should probably mention it is a Hauppauge HVR-2215 PCI-E card.

Does the device work in the Hauppauge WinTV app, or other app? ie, indicating the definitely in a working condition, with a good signal connected.

In the logs there is no errors, and it goes through the motions, but never locks onto a signal. I'm guessing it's either a bad signal, or some device fault.

Hi Sub,

Thank you for saying that. I have tried WinTV also. I have trouble understanding how it could be a device fault. I had one that did the exact same thing, sent it back and received a new one. It seems strange to me that I could have received 2 faulty cards in a row. I have taken this to someone elses house and have used their antenna/antenna cable and nothing has changed. The device appears present and has been able to receive radio signal. Frankly I am puzzled.

Ok, if it's not working there either, then I'm sure it won't be anything related to NextPVR stopping it working. It'll be something environmental, outside of NextPVR's control, like dud device, or bad signal, or bad driver install, or BDA problems on your Windows install.

It does seem unlikely it'd be a dud device if this is your second one, so maybe focus on the other things I mentioned. Once you get it working in WinTV, then I'm sure it'll work in NextPVR too.

Will do, thanks for your help. I'd be surprised about the signal as I have good signal on the tv, with a completely new aerial on the roof. Plus I have tried it at someone else's place with their cable (in a different part of town). Might try completely uninstalling the card through devices tomorrow evening and reinstall to see if that fixes any issues then have a look at BDA problems (to be honest I've never looked at a BDA problem so I'll learn what it is first) to fix it.

Thanks again for your help.
