Recorded shows no longer refreshing when selecting "Recordings" in Kodi.

Hi there.

I've been using the NextPVR plugin on XBMC for a while and have been happily clicking on the "Recordings" option to refresh my list of TV shows after recording completion. However, after upgrading to the latest version of Kodi (14.0), that no longer works. Nothing happens when you click on the "Recordings" option. The only way to refresh the recordings list is to restart Kodi. I tried sub's patch from http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...plus-patch but it made no difference. Is anyone else seeing this issue and found a way to fix it?

I'm running Kodi on a Win7 box and using the NextPVR 3.3.8 and the plugin v1.9.17 (tried with and without sub's above mentioned patch).

You are not alone I noticed that of all the PVR Plugins I tested this is the only one that does not update recordings unless you reboot KODI. I tested WMC Mediaportal and they all update automatically.

I know that pvr.wmc does request recording updates from the backend quite frequently on its own. AFAIK NextPVR only request them on Deletes.

Yes delete does request recording updates. I guess you answered my other question in pvr.wmc you can view a recording while it is recording to conclusion ... where in nextpvr you can only view whatever is already recorded it will not update the timeline.

Makes sense since pvr.wmc uses file sharing for recording playback the know problem on growing files is with http.

Is this something that sub can fix/change via the NPVR plugin? I'm assuming that since it worked prior to Kodi, it can be fixed.

Also, I'm a little confused by your comment that NPVR only updates on deletes. If I click on the "Recordings" option in XBMC with the NextPVR backend, the refresh will display any in-progress recordings. You can then also watch it while it recording through XBMC. If the refresh is only done on deletes, why do I see new content?

The plugin hasn't been updated for Kodi, so any changes were in Kodi behaviour and the Kodi team does a terrible job of letting sub know of changes. Just today they rejected his latest attempt saying he needs to rebase yet again because they made changes to a mime type. The way its going it will be lucky if they get his Kodi changes in for 14.1

I added some proof of concept code to sub's addon and with triggers added where pvr.wmc has them it does looks a a lot more dynamic. It needs some server side changes to make it more efficient.

Here's the win32 build of that addon that shows the more dynamic updates someone requested Note there is a bug in the NextPVR http API on in-progress recordings, the subtitle is not passed until recording is done.

Martin, thanks so much for this. Works great. Are the updates timed (how often) or triggered (what are the triggers)?
