So I think I found the answer on increasing the Live buffer for 64 bit windows. I just added the slipseconds parameter to the registry here and set it to 7200.

in Settings (probably on of the Misc tabs, I'm not at home to check) you can set Live TV to operate based on EPG data rather than time. That will split liveTV up by show rather than time.

Yeah, already had it set to EPG.

It wont use EPG if an EPG isn't available, or if you're using an external client (like XBMC etc).
