Looking for a way to delete recordings over a certain age. I suppose I could write a script to delete the recordings themselves, but, I suspect nextpvr may not like this?

I have it set up to record all networks shows every night ala Dish Hoppers Primetime Live feature. Now the problem is I do not watch every show on every network channel, so, I want them to go away in a week. I sure don't want to have to manually delete each of those.

Any tricks to accomplish this?

It can be set to keep so many recordings ie 7 would work out to be seven days if show is on every day

NPVR will remove it's database entries if it finds a recording missing (although there is a config option to prevent this if so desired).

As must mentioned, the simplest way would be to set the 'keep' option when setting up the recording to only keep the last xx recordings and delete earlier ones.

Too many shows that are only on once a week, or less, specials, etc.

then no, NextPVR won't do that for you. You'd have to write a script to go seek out recordings older than 7 days or whatever and delete the files; NPVR would run that for you nightly after the EPG udpate if you name it PostUpdateEPG.bat and put it in the npvr\scripts folder. NextPVR will automatically clean up it's database when it sees the files are missing.

Does this mean that if I delete a range of files using either a command or by setting a range in File Explorer that NextPVR will automatically update the database? Deleting a range of files is pretty easy; updating the database isn't. A related query -- if I rename or move a file using File Explorer, will NextPVR update the database appropriately? This would make management a breeze!

NextPVR auto deletes missing recordings based on the setting of autoremovemissingrecording in config.xml … http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...nced#toc91 … see also noremovewhentreemissing

NexyPVR can't help if a recording file is moved … NextPVR will see the recording as being "missing"

to add to what Graham said, all spot on, if you do need to update the database to reflect a file being renamed of moved, see the NScriptHelper program; you'll find instructions for it in the Wiki linked above. You can also move files within NextPVR using the Archive function; you setup multiple recording paths in Settings->Recording, then within the UI the Archive function will move recordings from one location to another. The recording file will keep the same name and relative path.
