I guess this is still kind of early but I was curious. Do you think we'll be able to run NextPVR on Win 10 on Raspberry Pi 2?

Might be a cheap way to get NPVR onto my secondary TVs.

Have they really confirmed you'll be able to get Windows 10 on a RPi 2? I'd be surprised if Microsoft was going to supply an ARM version of Windows that could be installed DIY.

That said, you can already use NextPVR on Raspberry Pi 2, via the XNEWA webclient plugin. You get the full NextPVR UI you're used to seeing, with only a few minor differences.

I am pretty sure Sub would have to rewrite NextPVR client as a Universal App http://dev.windows.com/en-us/develop/bui...ndows-apps and then there are all the new hassles about decoders etc. If you really need Windows there are already "Windows for Bing" devices with low-end Intel in the $100-125 US range.

true, or as a simple web client.

Yep. I recent bought a Pipo X7 for $87. Still waiting for it to arrive. It'll be interesting to see if it's any good. It's certainly cheap

Some of the cheap Pipos vendors don't include legal Windows 8. A good scam was one advertised as "authentic" ... and then the user's 30 day trial ended!

lol, I'll look out for that. It's claims it includes "Genuine Windows 8.1 with Bing", ie the version Microsoft provides which defaults to Bing search engine, with super low cost ($0 in some cases), so there doesn't look like there would be much point in them providing a trial version.

This is how I understand the license http://liliputing.com/2015/01/meegopad-t...s-8-1.html

Quote:"While Microsoft offers Windows 8.1 licenses free of charge to manufacturers of Windows tablets with 9 inch or smaller screens, the MeegoPad T01 and other tiny desktop computers don’t count… because they’re not tablets."

Microsoft does offer a low-cost version of its operating system called Windows 8.1 with Bing, but it’s cheap… not free. From what I’ve heard that means makers of small desktop computers had to pay $15 for a license in 2014, and about $27 for a license in 2015.

I've seen a $30 premium for activated Windows so that makes sense. You and stustunz have found way lower prices then I can get for my toys, I'm getting jealous of NZ Plus it is -15 C right now and snowing, and it's getting "really" cold tonight.

Why the hell would you want to use windows 10 over xnewa on the rpi running OE or similar, windows sucks at video playback.snagging with decodes etc on OE you are up and running in no time.

Aliexpress is $125US for the Pipo X7 There's a cheaper one at $120 shipped but it doesn't say "authentic" That's not close to sub's price. I did find the cheaper RPi2 $60 packages on ebay from HK and I might pick one up for the power supply
