Severe stuttering and buffering in Kodi

I can't seem to be able to watch live TV through Kodi. The channels select but there is extreme buffering and stuttering (plays 5 seconds, buffers 5 seconds, plays 5 seconds, etc).
It works just fine through NextPVR itself, without any lag or buffering.

I've done the
<minvideocachelevel>40</minvideocachelevel>
<minaudiocachelevel>40</minaudiocachelevel>
recommended chances to avancedsettings.xml. This only increased the length of time it would play and buffer (increased both to about 20 seconds play, 20 seconds buffer)

I've replaced the NextPVR NShared.dll with the latest one I could find (size is 664,064 bytes), no change.

Enabling timeshifting in the Kodi-NextPVR plugin causes Kodi to hang when attempting to open a channel, giving a 'Tuner no longer available' error after a few minutes of trying. Partial Log file is provided below, full one attached.

Surprisingly, it also works without any trouble with X-NEWA but I find it to be a bit unwieldy.

OS: Win7 x64
Kodi version: 14.1
NextPVR Frontend for Kodi: 1.9.20
NextPVR version: 3.3.8

NextPVR and Kodi are running on the same system.

As a side comment, when a new version of NShared.dll is released, incrementing the version number could be helpful for troubleshooting.

Also, unless I somehow ended up with a future-dated version of the plugin, I have no damn clue where this comes from. :confused:

I added the 3.4 message because recording updating won't refresh automatically until 3.4.x is replaced. The Kodi release cycle is so pitiful it wasn't worth holding the fix given the user complaints after Helix stopped doing refreshes like Gotham did

You need the server-side logs too but you have to catch them right away.

Can't quite figure out where the server-side logs are, actually. NextPVR doesn't seem to have any entries in %appdata% subfolders.

Does it work better if you let Kodi settle done for a couple of minutes there is a lot going on with the server on startup. Next time upload all the server logs web logs don't show enough about the capture devices.

Gave it about 10 minutes between starting Kodi and trying to load a channel; still no joy. Here are all the log files.

PC startup at 22:42PM
NPVR recording service restarted at 22:44 (to start new log files)
Kodi startup w/ logging enabled at 22:46
First attempt to open TV channel at 22:55
'Tuner no longer available' error at 22:57

Does it work better if you turn off EPG updates during live tv?

No difference. Both by disabling EPG updates during playback in Kodi and setting EPC source to 'None' in NPVR settings.

edit: Oddly enough, there's no issue whatsoever with listening to radio channels (through the analog tuner, thanks again for the help in sorting that out), both with timeshift enabled or disabled.

None is ok but the setting on NextPVR's Setup->Misc is better. You might need to restart the recording service to see.
