I need to retire the pc that current runs the NextPVR 3.4.8 server. Is it possible to move the configuration to a new pc and what would the steps be if this is possible.

Thanks....

There is a few ways to do it. If you're going to keep the recordings in the same directories (ie was c:\recordings on machine, and will be c:\recordings on the new machine), then copy the recordings over, install NextPVR on the new machine, copy the npvr.db3 and config.xml from the old machine, replacing the files of the same name on the new machine.

That sounds easy enough.....if I want to have the recordings saved to a new directory on the new pc, I am assuming that the process would be entirely different. I would I attempt this method?

If you were going to move the directory then you'd probably need do the same steps, plus export the recordings on the old machine, edit the xml files to change the path, then import the recordings on the new machine.

I believe that this solution also presumes that you have the same tuners (hardware & software) installed on the new server to work completely. If the tuner configuration changes, then you could still copy over the npvr.db3 and config.xml from the old server and then go into the settings (for devices & channels) to configure the new tuners and merge channels, etc.

Yep, I'm sure we could come up with dozens of different permutations of exactly what he's doing, and each might require slightly different steps...

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I use a HDHomeRun PRIME for the tuners so only moving the software to a new pc was what I was interested and everyone provided excellent instructions.

I've done the above a few times over the years and it has always worked painlessly.
