MCE remote on Win2k?

Has anyone been able to get the MCE remote to work on Windows 2000 or Server 2000? I have one from when I was playing with MCE, and wanted to see if I could use it before I go out and buy a different one. If I have to purchase a new remote, what would you say is the best remote for GBPVR? I'd rather have an IR remote, but I could do RF if necessary. Thanks.

You can get it working if you buy Girder. There's a plugin for Girder that'll make it work. That's what I did and it's good. If you're doing Remote stuff, there's a good chance you'll be using Girder anyway.

It doesn't even work in XP Home apparantly, just XP Pro, and MCE.

Thanks for your reply...I'll look into that. I do like the MCE remote, and would rather use it than a different model, since I already own it. Is there anything I should know about setting it up using Girder? Or is it pretty strait foward?

The MCE remote is quite good, though I probably wouldn't buy it if I was choosing again. It's just not well enough supported it seems. I've no experience with other remotes though.

Nothing much to get it working with Girder. Download the MCE plugin here: http://www.promixis.com/downloads.php?mo...ucCode=800
And then just program the buttons to the GB-PVR shortcuts.

Girder's not the most intuitive program to suss out, you have to tell it to learn each button, and then assign a keyboard command to it.

Once you get it working though it's neat :o)

Is there anyway to save the key mappings from Girder? Maybe we could get someone to host them...it might help a few people besides me.

Well, I've got Girder 3. What version have you installed? I can try upload the .gml file somewhere, and you can see if it works for you.

I haven't installed it yet, but I was planning on using version 3.x, since it appears to be less expensive. You can e-mail it to me, or maybe post it on the GBPVR wiki page...not sure how you get access to post on there, but that would be the best way for GBPVR users to have access to it, and also give yourself a backup of the file, should you ever need it.
