I have nextPVR set up (3.4.8 June 6 download) with a Silicondust dual HD tuner. I was able to get everything working (epg, decoders, etc.) but I have occasional stuttering during live TV. I thought I'd try the 5GHz channel on my router (which works just fine) but when I switched to that, next PVR will not play any love TV. If I switch to the 2.4 GHz channel, all is OK. What's up with that? I do the device setup, all is good - both tuners show up. epg is good, same decoders. Just no 5GHz wifi playback.

Definitely not a NextPVR issue. It works, fine here. The only explanation is some firewall or routing issue with how you have your wifi network(s) configured.

If you go into windows task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and click on the networking tab - what does it say your link speed is?

Is your router in the same room or a different part of the house? There are several factors involved relating to signal levels as a function of frequency. 1. The free space path loss @5.8GHz is much greater than @2.4 GHz (actually 1/wavelength-squared). 2. Attenuation through drywall, glass and wood is much greater as well. 3. Antenna performance @5.8, particularly if you are using a dual-band antenna, is typically not as good as the performance at 2.4, at least the ones that I have tested.

Works for me with 5GHz wifi as well. It generally has a shorter range than 2.4GHz, eso with walls and such. You can try different channels and other settings with 5GHz if you really need to use it for other reasons, you might be able to get it to work. Checking your signal strength with 5GHz is also useful.
