HDHR4 playback issues

I can see the same issue here when playing the file. It seems to be a capture issue though, rather than a playback issue.

The file is severally damaged, with many missing packets and other packets with corrupt data. Windows Media Player and a couple of other players were having similar odd issues trying to play the file. VLC did a bit better playing the file, but you could still see visual errors and skipping during playback.

The question is why are the files broken? I'm not really sure. I'd run the NextPVR installer again from the website to make sure you've got the latest patches (I seem to remember there was one fix for HDHR, but I don't think it'd account for a problem like this).

Does the HDHR software show you the signal strength? I wonder if your signal levels are a bit low.

That file was a particularly bad one. There are stutters and dropouts that show up in other players. Other recordings have been substantially better and will play all the way through on NPVR.

The signal strength and quality are both good in the HDHR software.

It is possible I've got a bad cable. I've been plugging and unplugging the homemade cable multiple times during this upgrade. Tomorrow I'll snip off the connector and put on a new one to see if that helps.

Remember to do what I suggested, with re-running the installer to make sure you've got the latest patches.

I ran the installer again to make sure I had the latest patches. I also replace the network cable and removed a hub from my network. At first it looked like the issue had been resolved, but then I started seeing the problem of the recoding ending too early.

If it would be helpful, I could post a good recording and a bad recording.

I've done some more testing and seem to have narrowed it down to the hard drive. I built the NUC with a 128gb ssd for the OS and put in a WD red, 1tb sata drive for storage.

I have been recording to the SATA drive with intermittent results. When I record to the SSD drive, all of the recordings work normally. I've got another hard drive on the way to see if it works better than the current one.

The WD red series are supposedly designed for use in an NAS and are better for 24/7 operation. I thought it would work in my system, but that might not be the case. I'll update when I get the new drive.
