I was successfully using nextpvr backend on my windows media pc. I foolishly decided to upgrade the software on my front end - a raspberry pi 2 running a debian-based osmc distro. Kodi got updated also. When I brought it up again, it said it had TV configured with no PVR client plugins configured. So I went back in and reselected nextpvr client plugin. I went through configuration and enabled the plugin. Regardless, I still couldn't get it to work. When I went back into the nextpvr plugin configuration screen, it showed the host field was blank. No matter how I set it - host name or ip address - when I leave the configuration screen and return to it, it's forgotten the host I set.

Thanks,
John

Did you click on the host field to change it? I only ask because mine shows as blank, although when I click on it, it clearly has my server's ip address listed.

Yes, clicking on it brings up the last item I entered into the onscreen keyboard edit box. However, when nextpvr worked for me last, the host name would remain showing in the host field of the main configuration screen.

I'll admit, I could be way off base here - perhaps it's not working for some other reason, but this is the only thing I could find in all the configuration options that seems to be a problem - regardless, my nextpvr client plugin will not display a "TV" option in the main menu. I can only assume it's not really connecting to the nextpvr service.

That said, I CAN connect to the nextpvr service using a web browser from a different PC, so I don't think it's a server-side issue.

Thanks for the quick response anyway.

I mentioned that UI bug to Kodi team when it was introduced during the beta cycles but they wanted me to write it up and I didn't think it was worth the effort.

Turning on Live TV in the settings menu is the only way to display the main menu item as far as I know. Having the addon enabled and Live TV disabled results in no Live TV menu item in Kodi.

Edit: To my knowledge. I'm at work and not in front of my machine at home, so I can't verify this, but I'm fairly certain that's how it works.

Yes, I can see that it's merely a UI bug as @mvallevand mentioned above. I ran kodi on my media server pc and it was able to connect to nextpvr server through localhost (127.0.0.1), and it also has the UI issue of not displaying the currently connected server address/hostname as configured.

So I'm back to square one I guess. I'm also having other issues - such as no EPG data for 3/4th of my channels - all acquired over the air (DVB/ATSC) - I'm sure a paid service would provide better data, but I never had this much trouble (despite all my complaining about it) with WMC. I don't expect answers to these issues on this thread. I'm just really tired of not having a truly simple software solution for PVR - I'm half tempted to just go buy a hardware device at this point.

Just very strange. I run 5 kodi boxes, of all different types around the house. I've experienced the not being able to see the server ip address on all of them, but they work. I just went and disabled live tv, then re-enabled live tv, and might've even restarted kodi to force any updates needed. Live TV showed up. I think I might've also had kodi rebuild the epg from the settings as well. Wish I could be of more help =/

the OTA epg data for ATSC is minimal and not really useful for tv scheduling/recording purposes. It's mostly meant to provide now/next information for use by actual TV's when you press the "info" button.
