Hello, I've been trying to figure out how to update my EPG for a while now. Currently i'm trying to update OTA, but maybe i'm doing that wrong. I go to settings -> Channels -> set one of my channels to DVB/ATSC EPG. I've ran Update EPG afterwards which scans for about 60seconds per channel. Once it's done, I check my channel listing (TV Guide) and it just shows no show details.

So...
issue 1) I can't seem to bulk map the channels to all use DVB/ATSC EPG. Any settings I set on that page seem to go to the nether (nothing is reflected back on the channels page).

issue 2) Still have never seen TV Guide work.

Brief look at the logs it seems to have an issue casting NShared.HDHomeRunRecorder while updating the EPG:
Code:
2015-09-08 20:29:19.777    [ERROR][7]    Unexpected error getting dynamic event list: System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'NShared.HDHomeRunRecorder' to type 'NShared.Visible.IEPGDataSource'.
   at NShared.EPGManager.UpdateEPG(IEPGUpdateCallback callback)
I believe I have my firewall opened. I don't see the option for "Other - ATSC/QAM" with the latest version of hdhomerun setup, so I have it set to NextPVR. Anything else i'm missing?

Attached Logs. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there is no real broadcast EPG in North America. If you're using ATSC via an antenna, you might 6 hours or so of listings, but that's next to useless for a PVR. If you're using digital cable, you'll get even less - usually nothing unless it's a rebroadcast local channels.

In that part of the world pretty much everyone uses Schedules Direct for their listings. There used to be another decent free option called mc2xml, which people used successfully for many years, but that was broken about a month back when Microsoft change their listing provider. Another option I've seen mentioned recently, which we don't know much about is zap2xml.

That error comes from trying to use an HDHR Prime configured to use DVB/ATSC EPG. I should change the app to not allow that, because you're not going to get any listings that way.

As Sub stated, Schedules Direct is the one to use in the US. I have found in a short time that it is well worth the subscription cost and is not hard to set up.

@Redwingsfanfc

Thanks - Schedules Direct works really hard to provide the best data that we can, with a defined support and escalation structure, and minimizing the cost to the subscriber.

If a lineup or schedule is incorrect, and a ticket is opened at the Schedules Direct website, then we have a system that keeps on top of those things. It also means that your issue gets triaged and escalated to the people that are actually creating the data that we're consuming. I think that anyone has opened a ticket on our system at least gets an ACK fairly quickly while we determine the root cause.

Since we are in a B2B relationship with Zap2It / Gracenote, if it's wrong, we can at least try to fix it; some providers are better than others, so if Gracenote calls them and says, "We've been told that ESPN was on channel 203, and now it's on 805?". A provider that responds quickly means that the lineup is updated quickly. Even better is if a provider is pushing lineup updates _to_ Gracenote, because then the lineup update mechanism that we have will let the grabber know that there's been a change. If you're using a scraper, then there is no escalation mechanism, since all the Terms of Service for providers will tell you, "Don't scrape our website."

Some providers either don't answer the phone / email, or say, "Nope, that's wrong. ESPN is on 203" - that's when things slow down, and we start requesting pictures of the user of the EPG from the set top box so that we go back and say, "Really? It sure looks like it's on 805..." Gracenote has to assume that the provider knows what they're transmitting, so that's why contradicting them requires evidence.
