General Update on 93.10

Today I reinstalled the latest release from scratch. Things seem to be much, much better.

Improved:
- Video "stuttering". This seems to be gone after the latest reinstall. The spiking in GBPVRRecordingService still occurs when the the web interface logs on but it apparently does not seize the CPU completely.
- Video/Audio synch problem. I am now able to set the Encoder Pass-Through for deinterlacing.

Problems:
- Time Shift mode. When Time Shift first start there is significant video/audio stuttering for the first 15-20 seconds or so. This reoccurs periodically, on the order of two-three minutes. This did not occur in 92.11 (there was a video stuttering problem but it appears to have been directly related to the GBPVRRecordingServices/Web Interface situation)
- CPU utilization. GBPVR now runs normally at 40-50% CPU utilization vs the previous version which was normally in the 15-25% range

Try increasing the live tv pre-play delay it might help.

When? Live TV? This will be because you're using encoder pass through, which requires the video to be decoder. When your deinterlacing was set to none it didnt need to do this.

Will the Automatic commercial skipping work with Showanalyser if it is set up to put out comskip like txt files?
I dont know. If the files are the same as those generated by comskip, then I guess so.

I dont have ShowAnalyser, so I dont really know anything about it.

OK. No biggy - I've got a few other things I'm toying with at the moment anyway. Cheers.

For those having problem to install the new release du to "Installation ended prematurely because of an error" try to run the install from START/RUN with the following command:

msiexec /a "C:\Temp\GBPVR09310.msi"

it did the trick with my installation (change the directory accordingly).

Sub, are you interested of the failed install.log ... I couldn't figure out something meaningful myself.

Yeah, email it over to support@devnz.com and I'll see if I can find anything.

I attempted to upgrade to the new version from the most recent previous version without success. I keep getting an error which references the Microsoft Net Framwork executable 'install.exe' within the netframework directory buried within windows.

I "assumed" it was a strange problem on my end -- but I've never experienced that before and I keep everything up to date with no hinky software to speak of. Either way -- I rebooted and tried it again, same result. I verified I had service pack 1 of netframework 1.1, and even reinstalled netframework 1, then the service pack -- and even tried beta 2 each time rebooting and attempting to install the new version of GbPVR without 'any' success. As of now, GbPVR has been removed (by the install program you wrote) and I can't use it at all... Please tell me I can reinstall the old version? I don't have a copy here.....

Thanks for any suggestions Smile

I tried setting the time to 750ms and it didn't get any better. I tried 1000ms and it actually got worse, becoming a continuous series of freeze frames.

I'm using the new nVidia Platinum decoders for audio and video by the way.
