"crap" might be bit strong.

As far as I can tell ratdvd is a way to convert the file to xvid and keep the original DVD menus. The few movies I've tried seem to be pretty good quality given they're only about 1Gb. Yeah, its going to need quite a while to transcode the video to ratdvd format.

I'm starting to see quite a few movies for download that are using this format. This an area I think it'll be popular. Much smaller than a DVD, but retains many of its features.

Will I convert my DVD hard drive store to ratDVD? probably not, but I might download the occasional ratdvd.

ive converted 3 dvds so far and the menus dont work at all. its a good idea, the compression is good enough, but its too buggy, let it age a little.

it will be good, but at the moment its just to buggy.

just to let you know i am adding support for ratdvd ripping in my videos, it, in theory, should support any ripper that accept command lines. in the config you just have to specify the .exe file (in this case ratdvd.exe) and the command line switches you wish to use. im still not 100% on ratdvd, but i havent given up on it yet (im frustrated with it, but havent given up).

of course if you dont use my videos, then well hmmm you just wont care.
