Screen freeze when changing channel either with +/- channel or with direct channel number. The workaround I used for my wife is to remove LiveTV plugin , remote control changes with the +/- channel to be STOP, and no numbers accepted. So only way to get Live TV is through the Guide with a STOP between changes.

This issue has plagued me for months. Sometimes it appears for a few days, then disappears for a while. One thing that seem to help is to try different A/V decoders - I have found more issues with some and less with others.

Please post your client and server logs for the experts to have a look.!

as 2leftfeet suggested, it's a decoder issue. most decoders just don't like sudden video stream changes, they aren't designed for it. one decoder that is known to work well is the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video decoder, precisely because it's designed for use with media center. Unfortunately it's not usable in all versions of Windows. I believe the cyberlink powerdvd decoder is supposed to work ok for channel changes too. I know for sure that the LAV Video decoder and ATI MPEG-2 decoders are pretty bad, don't even tolerate skipping well either.

That is in essence correct, but the freeze during live tv on client is a sustained bug that has plagued npvr for its lifetime.

Thank you for your answers. I am using an Avermedia TV tuner and the best I found for H264 decoding is Microsoft DTV-DVD Video decoder. When I tried Live TV directly (not in client/server) with same Tuner it
was working perfectly, so I am more thinking as a client/server issue.

I see the same problem for sub to look at that I noted before, that second file is getting a bad offset.

lol, it's going to be a rather long time before the file grows to where that position is valid.
