Hi,

I recently added a second HDPVR2 in my setup. I'm using graphs to run both with networkrecorder and a custom ir software exe that I made triggering one itach device. All is working perfectly. There is just one minor issue with the setup.

When I'm watching a channel in one device an try to start a second stream on a second one or if I'm watching live tv and start to record something the stream freezes for some seconds while the second stream is starting then it returns. Looking at the logs it seems that the first stream is stopped but soon after the second one starts the stoppage is cancelled.

This is a little bit annoying with your going trough channels in different devices.

Here are the logs.

Thanks in advance.

Marcelo.

Why are you using NetworkRecorder, instead of the built-in support for the HDPVR2?

Unfortunately I'm not well placed to answer any questions about NetworkRecorder. I've never used it, and know very little about it.

Sub,

I try to use it with the buit-in support but the two HDPVR are not working in one PC for me. That is not related to NPVR since even with the WinTV the situation is the same. Both get recognized but as soon as I try to stream anything the software try to start one of the HDPVR without any luck. It seems that it got confused in which one it should start. Using graphs I avoid this but face the mentioned problem.

But I think the situation is the same if I use the built-in. I tried previously to have two HDPVRs but one of them connected to a virtual machine using the IPTV and the freezing issue is the same.

Also tried to format windows, changing from 8.1 to 10 but was not able to have two HDPVR2 on the same pc without using graphs.

Thanks,

Marcelo.

Sorry, I can't really help with NetworkRecorder.

When the next release of NextPVR is out (in a few days), if you want to the try the two HDPVR2s with the built-in support, and still have issue, I'm happy to take a look for you.

I happen to have to Colossus2's connected to my machine at the moment, and these are working fine. These appear to NextPVR as HDPVR2's, since they're the same device, but on a PCIe card (with USB-to-PCIe bridge).

If your custom IR solution uses USB I know that the HDPVR can't stream data over the USB connection when the IR is being controlled.

Martin,

As you know, I have 3 HDPVR2's hooked up and I use a USBUIRT to control the sources. They all run through a single hub and I don't see any ill effects. Maybe they fixed something when they went from HDPVR to HDPVR2?

I wasn't meaning if there are distinct USB feeds designed for IR, it was the word "custom" that made me wonder what could be a cause. Looking deeper at the logs It seems like the buffering on the C: drop doesn't look to be showing growing files, I'd see if using the Z drive for live tv changes anything.

Ah, I see what you mean! My mistake! I'd kind of like to know more about that custom stuff, might come in handy someday.

Martin,

The custom exe created for IR is nothing more than opening a connection in the Itach device sending the ir info to the device and closing it. No usage of USB or something like that.

I'll try to change the buffer to the Z drive also to see if it changes anything.

Thanks all for taking some time to look at this.

Ok it sounds more like a drive cache problem then. Unless you really need create custom graphs, as sub suggested it is best to do this with NextPVR's built in support.
