I have an old (2009) HP all in one computer system that was designed to record t.v....

Only I'm not recording t.v. I'm sliding a computer into that svideo connection and I just want to display what's coming through this computer's svideo connection.....
i downloaded and extracted the needed componets but it's still not giving me any luck.

the svideo connection is part of an All In One HP computer... it's a large screen all in one set up which has an onboard grafix capture device.

i can get windows media center to read the svideo just fine, but only in the diagnostics, when i try to accept that it takes me to a screen that needs to verifiy some sort of IR box which i don't have because i'm not setting up a tv i'm just trying to listen to my svideo in >.<

ok, i've discovered that my particular card is a pain to deal with but that doesn't help me at all

it's registered as avermedia bda atsc tuner

it's intergrated in an HP all in one setup... how on earth can i get it to read the svideo?

I'm sorry but I have no clue what you are describing. It might help if you describe your configuration in terms that relate to a typical NextPVR setup.

Many of use have a computer that uses a a tuner device in a PCI slot or connected via USB. NextPVR will run on this computer and will record TV shows received by the tuner and will playback the recordings.

Some of us have an external set top box (STB) to receive TV via satellite or cable. The STB might be connected to a computer via an svideo cable. The computer end of the svideo cable might be plugged into some kind of tuner device. NextPVR will run on this computer and will record TV shows received by the STB and will playback the recordings.

The analog side of this device would only show up once you've followed the steps listing the sticky support thread related to analog support (ie, getting softpvr installed, and possibly adding the device to AnalogDevices.xml).

In reality, I'd only try going down this path if you're trying to setup a PVR for regularly recording TV etc. If you're just wanting access to your svideo port for capturing some random videos to disk, NextPVR is the wrong sort of application for this task - you'd be better of using the software that came with the device.

avermedia are the guys that refused to give any documentation to software developers on how to call on the device for sniffing svideo... because it was 'confidential' and only supposed to work with windows media center...

now i did everything that the stickies sorted through and figured that it's something to do with adding the device to analogdevices.xml

but i don't understand code from latin to be honest

it's an Avermedia BDA ATSC tuner, it doesn't even show up in the device manager, and the only software that 'came with it' was windows media center which only allowed me to view the svideo through the set up wizard, and then i can't complete the set up because the next screen requires me to let the computer read the IR box that apparently comes with that sort of 't.v'.

any pvr program that can access the svideo is perfect for me, and this one is the lightest weight allowing me to use the remaining processing power to encode the video and stream it to twitch ... that's what i'm trying to do... there is no software that came with it and avermedia themselves don't even acknowledge they manufactured this device just 6 years ago.

they are one of the worst product manufacturers i've seen on the internet to date, as far as support for their products.

Did you see this ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...alogDevice

If you are not able to figure out the required edit for AnalogDevice.xml then post again and zip and attach the file that is created by Filtercheck. I expect that someone will come along and help you.

I am still not convinced that NextPVR is the software that is best for what you want ...
