UK Digital TV channels in wrong number order

Windows 7, running on I5 pc
4Gbe Ram
NextPVR 3.6.6
Running SAF (LaV) Decoder for Mpeg 2)
Running on a wired Gbe LAN
tbs quad dvb-t2
Local 3Tb WD Red Drives
UK digital TV

I can scan and receive 121 digital channels, but they are in the wrong order, should be:

1 = BBC1
2 = BBC2
3 = ITV
4 = Channel 4
5 = Channel 5
etc ect

But mine are a complete mishmash, such as

1 = BBC1
2 = BBC2
3 = BBC3
4 = Sky News
5 = CBBC
etc ect

Any idea how I rectify please? (whenever I rescan I seem to get exactly the same as before) I've already tried to make a custom channel group, by adding/dragging channels into my custom group and re-numbering them, but when I save this custom channel, my channel number edits are reversed back to the incorrect channel numbers (although the order I added them into is the order I want).

Any guidance appreciated please?

Cheers, Julian

I don't know of any reason why the channel numbers would be wrong ... The easiest fix might be to start over. NextPVR stores everything in one or other of two files config.xml and npvr.db3 ... Much of the configuration that you have done (e.g. decoders) is in config.xml. You could stop the recording service (there's a shortcut in the NextPVR Start Menu group) and then delete npvr.db3. Reboot to restart everything and NextPVR should create a new empty database ... Settings --> Devices and scan again should get you channels with the correct numbers.

If you wanna go through them one by one ... Settings --> Channels --> Details and you can change the channel numbers in Channel Details ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...n.Channels ... you might get the result that you want if you set all of the channel numbers then stop and restart NextPVR and then start fiddling with Channel Groups.

It'll usually pick up the channel numbers from the broadcast. Sometimes you can get unlucky with timing, and miss them in the stream. Delete the channels and try scanning again.

Appreciate the guidance folks, I'll try this this week. I'll hopefully be a forum contributer soon, when I have more experience with NEXTPVR.

It happens to me as well and I gave up and manually changed the channel numbers in setup after scanning.
A bit of a tedious job, but I've only had to do it a couple of times in many years.

I've just about given up with channel numbers now anyway and just go by station name - it got confusing when multiple sources of the same channel were available (DBN-T, DVB-S, analogue from STB.....

It happens to me every time so nothing to do with timings. I set channel numbers using the Bulk Map button and going down the list.

Try setting <ScanDropTime>3000</ScanDropTime> in the <General> section of config.xml, then scan again. It'll cause it to wait longer for the LCN data in the stream.

I have found that the numbering of channels in the channel list seems to be ordered by multiplex, in the order that they are scanned (which isn't even ascending order of frequency!). So all the channels in multiplex PSB1 are grouped together as 1-30, then all the channels in PSB2 are in 31-40 etc. (I've used fictitious numbers to illustrate the point).

It's mess! I increased ScanDropTime to 3000 and it made no difference. When I cleared the channel list and started again, I got the same grouped-by-mux ordering.

I've just spent half an hour going through and giving each channel its proper LCN - and next time I scan for changes I'll probably have to undo its mangling of LCNs all over again.

This is for Windows 10.

If you want to do a scan, and post the npvr.log, I'll check why it wasn't picking up the LCNs.

Sorry for digging up an old thread but I have a similar issue. I've tried retuning several times and cannot get the correct channel numbers. I would like to try increasing the scandroptime but I cannot find the config.xml file. Can someone tell me where it is located in the current version? Or if this has been resolved another way?

For info I'm using win10 and tuning to the Mendip Mast in the UK, South West.

Ta very much for the help!
