I am using nextpvr version 3.6.6 with windows 10. it was working but now I get blank recordings. tuner is silicone dust hdhomerun. i tried various configurations on the hdhomerun tuner as well as rescanning channels cant make it work. Any ideas? log file is attached.

My guess is that Windows Update has turned the firewall on or removed your exceptions, NextPVR.exe, NDigitalHost.exe and NRecord.exe needs to be allowed through the firewall.

If you attempt a recording, do you end up with a file one disk (greater than 0 bytes in size)?

As reddwarf suggests, it could be firewall related. Maybe try temporarily with the firewall disabled.

i turned off the firewall and its working now. I need to turn the firewall back on but not sure how to add the necessary exclusions and how to make them permanent. ill poke around and see if i can add them manually. be neat if there was a program or file that could fix this easily.
Thanks!

Sub, will running a re-install over the top add the missing firewall exceptions?

It turns out to be fairly easy to go into windows firewall and just check the boxes for the three items mentioned . they were all ready checked for private network but not for public network.

nextpvr.exe
ndigitalhost.exe
nrecord.exe

In theory yes. It's not going to help you if you're using a firewall other than Microsoft's though. If you're using 3rd party firewall/anitivirus, then you need to set the exceptions yourself in your software.

Presumably you had your network set as a private network, and windows went and changed it to Public for some reason. I see this happen all the time, for a variety of stupid reasons. In versions of Windows before 10, it was simple to go into the Network and Sharing Center and change the network type from Public to Private. However in Windows 10, Microsoft has removed the setting and I can't find it anywhere; I've read it's supposed to be in Settings->Network and Internet->Ethernet and then click the "Connected" icon for the adapter, but on any system I've checked the resulting screen is empty.

The only reliable way I've found to change the network type in Windows 10 is to open the File Explorer and then click on Network; if the network is public, a yellow bar will appear saying network browsing or file sharing is disabled; if you click the bar to enable sharing, windows will ask if you really want to enable sharing on a Public network, or if you'd like it to make the network Private. (this also works for Windows 8/8.1)
