Mce type ir receiver works on rpi just plug it in(auto detects and just works)
Logitech keyboard with mouse and light up keys works a treat also
Or load up app on phone for a keyboard works as remote also

Mpeg decoding isn't as good as pc but as good as popcorn hour I reckon
H264 is as good as pc

Comskip isn't as good only because no black bars showing where adds are on time line

Also I use xnewa and not npvr pvr plugin for 2 reasons
It's not light weight
Looks just like npvr on pc if you set it to(Autostart Web Client)

This is one of the things that I do miss, too. I had seen where someone had added preliminary support for this into Kodi, but unfortunately, the Kodi developers don't seem to have taken it in. It would be nice.

Also, I'm not aware of a way to turn off the auto-skipping during playback if the skip points are way off for some reason (the equivalent of "999" in NextPVR).

Another vote for RPi2 which I was given at Christmas! Playing HD the processor runs at 5%-15% and SD 45% to 60%. I run X-NEWA on OpenElec. The only problem is that I have to remember to power it on a few seconds after my Sharp TV but I think that is a feature of the TV as I remember a problem with a PC some time ago. Navigating the menus it seems as fast as my Celeron Nettop PC and a bit faster that my AMD E-450 Nettop. The MCE remote control with USB sensor work without any setup.

Just got mine today. SD Card, Mouse, Ethernet Cable, Power. No KB for now.
OpenElec is running from SDCard install, just need to follow subs or Martins instructions for either XBMC/Kodi or X-NEWA.

I just got a Nexus Player as described in my thread in the General Discussion forum. I've had some initial pain with it, but I am still pretty impressed. Kodi works well, I haven't even gotten to installing X-NEWA yet. I was going to play with it more last night, but I worked late and ended up just watching a few shows on my regular htpc before going to bed.

It also now appears that the network problems I described and blamed on the Nexus Player's WiFi are in fact real problems on my home network, something appears to be wrong with the Time Warner Cable modem/router box.

The bit I'm not too keen on is that there's no IR remote sensor on the Nexus Player. The primary remote is bluetooth, and it can also be commanded over the network from a phone or tablet. So I can't use my simple IR-only Harmony 350 with it, and I've no desire to buy one of those expensive bluetooth or wifi-capable Harmonys. If the little bluetooth remote had a volume control on it I'd probably call it good enough, but without that it pretty much means always having two remotes in hand.

My preferred 10' control for Kodi including x-newa is Ritek Rii http://www.riitek.com/goods/0.htm I have both 2.4 an BT flavours and they are cheap and work great Neither require line of site and Kodo keyboard use is much more logical then NextPVR's.

The SD content may be mpeg if pay for mpeg licence it will give way better playback of interlaced mpeg content its like 2 pound

Just bought one of these 2.4GHz Ritek Rii keyboards - it is quite small, a tiny wee bit longer than your hand, pretty much. Can tap keypad or use mouse buttons on left - it's a bit like using a phone though, typing with two thumbs ... Mine's this one, the Rii mini i10. The Rii main page is a bit deceptive as the relative sizes of the devices shown are not the same.

Of the NON-PC clients earlier in this thread (and noting that Martin has replied in a separate thread that you cannot expect clients such as RPi and other similar devices to run X-NEWA like NextPVR looks like on the PC, by way of interest, are there actually any devices (if any) that would provide equal quality to that seen on the PC screen, or is this essentially "none"?

I ask as whilst the RPi is actually fine as a client (once I get used to the screen), I am thinking that if I want sometime to get a better client (a light thin, small, non-fan one) whether I should just go the whole hog and get a miniPC like a Brix / NUC miniPC (Windows) Device, if they are good enough, but use as a SERVER behind the TV. Means changing my Colossus PCI card and thinking about NAS I guess. Is anyone using one as a server, which does Comskip checks fast enough, record multiple channels simultaneously, be used via a remote and can send reasonable Graphics to HDMI out?
