I'm running a HomeRun3 twin-tuner with Windows 10.

I have installed NPVR but am having problems with:

1. When I go to scan my two DVB-T tuners, they only pick up approx. half of the available FreeToAir channels in my area. One picks up 6 channels, the other picks up 16, including the perviously mentioned six.; and,

2. If I try watch Live TV on NPVR I have no picture. I checked the Decoders, but the MPEG2 Video Decoder is disabled, with no alternative. The H.264 Video Decoder has automatically set itself to the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder.

Did you try an 'Australia / All Regions' scan? Your specific region files might might be out of date. (this usually ends up being the case for Australian users)

From an empty database, setup one tuner first. When you setup the second tuner, accept the option of copying the channels from the other device.

NextPVR doesn't install any decoders, it just lists the decoders you already have on your machine, so it sounds like you don't have any MPEG2 decoder installed. You'd need to install one.

Thanks for such a quick reply.

Q1: I deleted all the channels that I had found before and then tried using the Australia/Allregions option but that brought up no channels at all. So, still with all previous channels having been deleted I tried again, but with the same result.
I should point out that the HDHomeRun has picked up all available channels and I am able to watch them with sound. But I want to use NPVR as a recorder, more than just as a LiveTV option.

Q2. In Settings/DVD/Decoders, the MPEG2 Video decoder is listed automatically as the Microsoft DVT-DVD Video Decoder. The reply I received to my question regarding Settings/Decoders raised the question as to whether or not I had a decoder installed on my computer. This makes me think I have.

Cheers, and here's hoping for some more suggestions.

There is quite a few people using these HDHomeRun devices in Australia and New Zealand. I've got one myself. There is no known issues with using them in NextPVR, so I'm sure it'll be something minor. Maybe try the 'Australia / All Regions' scan again with your firewall software turned off, in case it's getting in the way.

If you've got the application set to 'NextPVR' in the NextPVR software, maybe try setting to 'Mediaportal' to see if it fixes your scan. (this disables the driver pid filtering)

If neither of those help, post a npvr.log after scanning.

Actually, I forgot I should be hiding the decoder on the Settings->DVD screen, like I do on the main Settings->Decoders. This decoder was not usable in 3rd party applications beyond Windows 7, so the app hides it.

I've made the change for the next release to hide the 'Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder' decoder on the Settings->DVD screen.

With regards to your suggestioin to change the application to "MediaPortal" -- where do I do that?

Turning off the firewall didn't help so have attached the logfile.

Thank you so much.

Sorry to be so dense.

It's in one of the HDHomeRun utilities. I don't have one of these devices installed right now, so can't tell you the exact name. It looks something like this picture I found on the internet:

Have changed the MediaPortal setting as advised. Made no difference.

I have been thinking (dangerous!!!) that when I am setting my devices in NPVR, not all frequencies are being scanned. It appears NPVR is scanning only two frequencies.

DId you have it set to Australia / All Regions? This scans about 50 frequencies.

I am running Windows 10. Can you suggest a decoder for Australia please?
