Is it possible to force NPVR to search a specific IP address for a SAT>IP tuner?

I am trying to make NPVR work from a remote location that uses a linked routers. Each router can access each others network but unfortunatley I cannot see any facility to provide the IP address within the setup.

SAT>IP device discovery is done using UPNP broadcasts, which are probably not traversing between networks.

You might be able to set it up on the one network, so the discovery works, then move the machine to the other network.

Unfortunatley my tuner is in the UK and I am in SpainSad

Is it possible to edit an xml and point to the ip address?

I suspect it's not really going to work that sort of setup - more for performance reasons than discovery.

You can edit IP address on a device in the database if you needed to, but you'd have to have setup up initially with the SAT>IP device being detected etc, to at least get it into your database.

Not sure what you mean by performance issues. DVB Viewer lite works but its buffering is very poor. The TRAX receiver works great but my goal is to run everything from the HTPC.

FYI DVB Viewer Lite discovered the SAT<IP receiver without issue. I simply installed it and it found the receiver and channels without intervention.

@ Sub of what Kind of SSDP Messages are react only HTTP or the NOTIFY too?

Looks like that you only listen to Unicast (HTTP SSDP Responses are transmitted over this)
for MSEARCH and NOTIFY SSDPResponses Need you a second Socket ( Multicast) connected to 239.255.255.250:1900

PS DVBViewer use the Notify Messages for discovery for alive / byebye = adding / remove devices

As far as I know, NextPVR is already doing the correct things for discovery, but I'll try to do some experiments some time this week to check if I missing something.

I'm doubtful you'd be able to have this working across the internet between the UK and Spain though. This stuff is really designed for use on a local network, and I suspect most internet links will have problems consistently keeping up.

Sorry to disagree but I can receive HD SAT>IP in Spain perfectly well using DVBViewer and I would be happy to use that program if the user interface was a nice as NPVR. The only time I have issues is when my internet link is running slow through heavy local usage.

NPVR has a definite issue detecting remote SAT>IP devices that other programs do not. An Android program called Tivizen also found my SAT>IP tuner without issue. Both programs were able to scan transponders and list un-enrycypted channel of SD & HD. The android program has a tough time with HD but that is simply a processing power issue.

Please do not right off SAT>IP as a second rate reception facility. On good connection I get the same video result here in Spain as I do at home in the UK!

I really hope you can make the time to fix the discovery failure.

FYI
My LAN to LAN connection passes Netbios Naming Packets & Multicast via VPN
