Live channel change Win 10 times out ----- OK on Win 7

I have a dual boot PC with win 7 and win 10.

On win 7 NextPVR has no problem with channel changes.

On Win10, first channel selected comes up in a few seconds. However if you use either the channel up or type in a new channel it registers on the set top box, the red light comes on on the Hauppague HDPVR for about a minute then goes out. About a minute later, The message following comes on the screen:

"The tuner you were using was required for a recording. Would you like to switch to watching a recording or exit to the main menu?

When you exit to the main menu the new channel comes up in seconds after selecting live TV.

I have tried numerous decoders and device setups but the result is the same. the setup in the logs is as far as I can tell the same one that works perfectly on the Windows7 setup on the same physical machine.

I have spent many hours trying various decoders and device setups. I even did a Win 10 refresh. No change. Currently back on my restored image.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It looks like it's happening because of an unexpected 30 second hangup in one of the decoders, which causes the recording service to timeout and release the tuner.

To help narrow it down, if you temporarily set your audio decoders to disabled, does the problem still occurr?

As you suggested, I disabled the AC3 decoder.

Still times out.

Hi Sub,

As you suggested I disabled all audio decoders. Only Microsoft H264 video decoder active.

Problem remains on live channel change.

NextPVR stalls for a minute or so, then gives same message about tuner busy recording and allows exit to main menu.

To be honest, I'm not really sure. There is something about the decoders on your machine that is taking an unexpected 30 second delay, leading to these problems.

Does it help if you change the STB to output a fixed resolution?

Hi mvallevand,

My STB currently does change resolution to match the TV signal.

Since I have lost my original Hauppague remote, I will have to find a spare HDMI cable and hook up the STB directly to my monitor to access the STB menu via it's front panel.

I shall post the results here.

Changed STB to fixed 1920X1080 no change. NextPVR still times out on channel changes.
