Cancelled Recordings - re-appear at next EPG scan

Hi Guys,

On reading the instructions regarding recording of TV Series, It says that you can prevent duplicate recordings of your shows by selecting the scheduled recording, double clicking and choosing Cancel. This should prevent that particular episode from appearing in the recording schedule at the next EPG scan.
I have set up a Series recording that does not appear to follow these guidelines.

I set up a Series recording for two shows - "AFL Premiership:" and "Sevens SANFL" Obviously these are sporting shows and not your regular TV Series/Episodes etc. As per the attacxhed SS you can see that there are a number of the AFL shows every week but I only want one of them. So, if I "Cancel" the unwanted recordings today they will all re-appear after the next EPG scan/update. The same with the "Sevens SANFL" show, only one show per week, but if it does not include my team then I don't want to record it, yet cancelling it has the same effect as the AFL show, It will re-appear after the next guide update.

Is there a way in which I can stop this from happening?

Sorry, it's a known issue for countries where there is no unique show identifiers in the EPG. If you use a recurring recording, individual episodes cancelled are recreated at the NextPVR EPG update. I'll eventually get around to doing something about it In the meantime, it's limitation you'll need to live with (and cancel them on the day, or after they've been recorded).

One thing you might try is to have to recurring recording setup to only look on one day a week and/or a time range. I've done that in cases where something that doesn't have a unique EPD ID is on Thursday and repeats again over the weekend. I can't remember if you can do that from the Windows GUI, but you can specify days in the web GUI (at least the Classic one).

I think I noticed a similar issue when trying to alter individual recordings of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" series (US nightly talk show). On Monday I manually extended each recording this week by 30 minutes (via "Update" on each episode in the Pending list) and the Monday episode was extended properly but the remaining ones were not. I can only assume they were overwritten upon EPG update. I'm not sure if since it is a nightly show it means it doesn't have unique show identifiers?

At every EPG update, it will unscheduled (so you will loose individual recording setting made) and reschedule Recurring recordings.
You can change the padding on the Recurring recordings instead of individuals recording for this week. Then you change it back when no longer needed.

OK, but then I should not be allowed to edit the individual recordings independently.

The changes are in effect until the next EPG update.
