Hello All,

I'm just starting with NextPVR, and I'm very excited so far! I'm running into an issue where every time I go into Settings -> Channels, and hit Update EPG, it runs through the scans, and then crashes.

When this happens the NPVR Settings window is stuck at "Updating recording schedule". Windows 10 reports that "NextPVR has stopped working" and my only option is to Close Program.
The logs (Attached) seem to indicate that an UnhandledExceptionHandler has been caught: Object reference not sent to an instance of an object.

I've looked through the logs, and it seems to be running a scan on the ATSC channel I receive called "Hero" and then it just crashes.

Details about my setup:
-Windows 10 x64 server
-Two HDHomeRun HDHR-US (the 1st generation ones)
-ATSC Over the Air, somehow I get like 28 channels!
-Running NPVR locally on a server, then using Kodi on a Windows10 x64 client to connect to that server for live tv and recording scheduling
When I go into the NextPVR program on my server, and launch Live TV I can tune all the channels (even Hero) just fine. Sometimes the TV Guide shows partial data for certain channels, but after these crashes the TV Guide is missing from NextPVR.

Thanks for any tips you can provide!
Have good ones,

Oh yes, and in the Windows Event Viewer, I get the following errors:

And I get an Application Error with Event ID 1000:

What EPG are you using? ATSC EPG is next to useless, and pretty much everyone in that part of the world uses the Schedules Direct EPG.

Thanks much, applying the patch allows me to update the EPG data without crashing!
I'm using the ATSC EPG, and yeah it does seem to be missing many channels and future shows.

When I launch NextPVR and go to the main menu, it only shows me Live TV, DVD, and Exit.
Is there an easy way to restore that? (Update: I found it, just needed to go into Plugins. All set on that front!)

If not, if I were to reinstall and start from scratch with NextPVR will the uninstall cover that?
Otherwise should i delete the files at: C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR and C:\Users\Public\NPVR?

Thanks!

For US users, I highly recommend taking a look at the Schedules Direct EPG feed. You get 7 days to try for free, after that it's $25/yr, well worth it.

Thanks all for the tips! I've set up Schedules Direct and the guide populated perfectly. It's seems it will definitely be worth the $25/year. I think this will be a great improvement and NextPVR appears to be working in all respects!

One question: Should I restore the original NShared.dll? Or should I keep using the one I installed with that patch?

Thanks much!

Installed and activated Schedules Direct and I still don't get any channels in TV Guide. Just a message to go to the Devices page. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall NextPVR? I am also reporting thisd problem to Schedules Direct.

You'll need to give us more info. What device are you using, and have you gone to the Settings->Devices screen and scanned for channels (or in the case of analog/hdpvr, added them using the 'import' button)? It sounds like you haven't done this. For most devices you setup your channels first, then add Schedules Direct later.
