KODI NextPVR client calling GetRecordingsList too often

Martin,

They don't play with Kodi anymore no - I have to mount my share as a video share and access them that way. I keep them in the NPVR database so it can delete old recordings and keep track of which episodes it already has.

I think this is the latest OpenELEC beta 7.0beta3 (6.95.3) that I'm running.

One of them was running 15.1 6.0 but you probably should be running LibreElec anyway at this point.

LE has more frequent releases Normally that is not a bad thing but it takes a much longer time to see sub's patches make it to OE

I had loaded up your database, and hadn't found anything wrong with the data it sent to Kodi, and hadn't seen any sign of it repeatedly requesting the recording list.

The database probably has to be updated to show mp4 but it might. I know x-newa works with the recording pointing to an mp4, I don't run pvr.nextpvr, I don't like the Kodi PVR model the client is too fat and not really client/server

Openelec have not produced any updates since V7 Beta 3 in May as all the developers are said to have left to form a fork called LibreElec! The only difference is that the word Openelec has been replaced by LibreElec! V7.0.2 is the latest stable version.

Version 8 which uses KODI 17 is still in Alpha with quite a few video problems as they are said to have rewritten the video drivers. However the latest Alpha 7 works very well on my Celeron/Intel netttop and old Pentium4/Nvidia box but still has irritating problems on my AMD E450/Radeon and RPi2 although much improved from previous Alpha.

I updated everything to the latest LibreElec and I believe the looping issue has stopped. The thing that made me start looking in these logs and notice the loop was that my live TV all of a sudden started to freeze very frequently. Generally it'd freeze for like 10 seconds every few minutes and eventually it'd just crash. The setup was very stable prior. I think this started when I installed 3.8.3 a couple of weeks ago.

I noticed in the web.log that the liveTV seems to freeze when I get a couple of clients trying to update their guides. Here is a web.log file that shows a freeze. LiveTV froze at 21:33 and a few seconds. You can see the "LiveShift" messages stop and I get a bunch of guide updates from other clients.

I have also noticed recently that when I reboot any Kodi client the guide takes ages to load...a good 4-5 mins. It used to take about 30 seconds or less. I have done a complete empty of the EPG (NPVR side and KODI side) just to see but it made no difference. I assume these two issues are linked i'm just not sure where to go next. I have tested the drives on the NPVR server and they perform fine in several performance tests so I don't believe there to be a hardware issue.

Any thoughts?
