Right, I see - I am using Emby for similar purposes but your way does seem pleasingly simple/effective.

I always like to be at least somewhat aware of all the ways you can do these things.

You actually don't need to mess with a shared database or adding Emby you achieve the same thing using NextPVR as the backend for all playback.

This makes a great deal of sense actually. I do love Emby but I do go through patches of problems with it - either the server stops connecting with all my Raspberry clients or I suddenly get lots of entries that don't seem to be valid any longer.

I am trying to make my setup as bulletproof as possible and the fewer parts the better, as far as I am concerned.

How would you advise I use NPVR instead of Emby, considering I use X-NEWA?

1. Should I have a separate recordings folder from my video folder or is it OK to use one and the same?
2. Without Emby, how would new videos scrape media data? Is there a plugin for NPVR that can do this?
