Not sure about your case, but in HarryH3's sample the data is there and it looks like files can be remuxed for playback. In some cases a decoder can display a file with missing information because they don't need timestamps for seeking.

The part that seems to have them dazed and confused is why all of the other 40+ MPEG4 channels (at least the ones that I subscribe to) work fine.
i3-3570k, 8GB RAM, Win10 Pro, Nvidia GT710, HDHomeRun (OTA), NPVR 6.x
On a clear disk, you can seek forever...

Ah okay, hence why it might be a stream issue and not a DVR issue, I see.

Yeah... me too! I'm in Houston as well and it seems like we're experiencing the exact same issue.

According to the people at Comcast that I've been talking with, there are a variety of cable card MPEG4 issues around the country. The main common thing with all of them so far is the use of Cisco cable cards. You can check what card you have by opening the browser page for your HDHomeRun Prime and click CableCARD Menu.

That didn't stop them from switching a bunch more channels over to MPEG4 last night.

I guess I'm glad that all of my cards from Comcast are Motorola cards. :-)

Mine is a Cisco card as well, so the problem seems consistent. No talks yet about switching out cards? I had a Motorola card when I lived in CO but they switched to Cisco when I moved out here.

Any issues with the Motorola? I've just started troubleshooting crashing issues with 1-2 channels and believe I do have the Cisco.

Which is newer the Cisco or Motorola? Comcast is usually really good about just walking into the store and swapping out equipment.

bad stream and half of my channels are now h264 but only USAHD doesn't work...

sux having to scan channels every day to make sure they haven't changed any more over...[just short views of each]
sure wish there were some way to detect the stream type and change automatically..

FYI - the stream type is only relevent to live TV. Recordings will still happen fine, and playback fine, regardless of whether the stream type was set correctly for the channel.

That would be awesome.

Here's a sample. I verified on the SD version of the channel it has subtitles (SD is still MPEG2). Then recorded the same show on the HD channel which is H.264.
