I had a number of episodes fail for various reasons (HD Homerun failure, signal loss, etc etc.)

I want nPVR to not see these episodes as previously recorded, so that the next time they air, it will be re-recorded and i'll have a 'clean' copy of the episode.

What is the most effective way to remove the record of these episodes being recorded so that they'll get re-recorded? Ideally, I won't have to remove the entire series, as I have ~10 seasons of this show, just a few episodes missing in each season due to corrupt (for various reasons) recordings.

Any tips?

Thanks!

If they are failed they are not marked as previously recorded.

If you still have the recordings, go to Recording and click on the "Forget" button in the top menu.

to combine and clarify what martin and handy.man said, if the recording is actually marked "Failed" then NextPVR has already forgotten about it and you can just delete it. If it isn't truly "Failed" to NextPVR, but deficient in some way such that you regard it is failed, then you go to the hidden menu at the top of the recording list and select "Forget"; then you can delete it as you wish (or leave it there, it doesn't matter... maybe it's a nearly-complete partial recording so you want to keep it but also get a new recording at the next opportunity... once it's been "Forgotten", it no longer exists in the eye of the scheduler)

What if you delete it from your hard drive but do nothing in the NPVR? Will NPVR see it isn't there, update it's DB and re-record it? I thought I read that somewhere.

If you haven't broken it at least once, you're not doing it right.

If you delete it from the hard drive, assuming you have the setting in config.xml to remove missing recordings enabled (forgot the precise name of the setting), then NextPVR will remove it from the DB and I'm pretty sure add it to the recently deleted table so that it won't be recorded again until the <DeletedDays> time is exceeded. If you don't have the remove missing recordings setting enabled, then nothing at all happens.

Thanks. I think I found the setting:

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>true</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>

Is there a way to change this setting to a short number of days? I've deleted the recordings (so cannot use the 'forget' trick (though thank you for that I will use this in the future)), but I would like to have those episodes re-recorded now that they're deleted!

Thanks!

After Johnsonx42 message I searched the forums and saw a post where sub said we could set <DeletionHistoryDays>0</DeletionHistoryDays>. If not the default was to wait 90 days.

You can use the "NextPVR.exe -removehistory" command to clear out the history of recently deleted recordings.
