I installed a couple of key utilities which showed showed what each key on the remote did and no f1. I was able to use a reg edit util to remap f2 to f1 actually.

It was another couple of keys launch_email and media_select I think it was that I have used ahk for and it is by no means elaborate, honestly I had not realised how easy it was until today!

Thanks I was thinking regedit solution but know it makes more sense (well launching email by remote not so much) and glad you have a solution.
